Starting Friday Oct 9, 2015 - my car has stopped communicating with MFM. I go to my app or in browser to 'update' the status but it fails with a message 'Update Failed, try again later'. I have tried several times to update the status but no luck.

Incidentally, this is day also marks one year since I purchased the car! Anyone seen this, or is there any trigger that I need to follow after 1 year?

Thanks.

Not that I am aware of. I am in San Jose, Bay area. Anyone else in the bay area having issues?

What year is your car? I think there should be another year still on the 2012 MY's before the subscription runs out, but I could be wrong. My best guess is AT&T phased out EDGE there. I know they're slowly doing it everywhere, which screws us.

Ford has indicated that a 3G modem will be made available. Check out this post.

My car is a 2014 model, bought exactly a year ago! So there should be 2 more years on subscription.

I emailed MFM support and they emailed me instructions to reset the Telematrics Control unit. As instructed, I removed and reinsert fuse F1 located in the luggage compartment fuse panel.

If anyone runs into this issue, go your to your owner’s manual on page 205:

Focussed - Thank you for your post on how to reset the Telemetrics Control Unit, by removing and reinserting the F1 Fuse located in the luggage compartment fuse panel. Earlier this we too lost communications on our 2013 Black FFE through the website and mobile apps. This solution resolved the problem! :D

Keep in mind, the exact page number will vary by model year, as the manuals are laid out slightly differently. Page 205 is likely only accurate for the 2014 manual linked above.

My 2014 FFE has been intermittent in its connection with the MFM app. Some days it works, most days it fails. I plan on having my dealership take a look at it the moment it goes in for its 10k mile check-up.

Honestly, the MFM app is the least enjoyable aspect of ownership. I give some more details about it in a blog post a wrote a while back: http://www.eastwestbrothersgarage.com/2015/06/long-term-test-2014-ford-focus-electric.html.

I understand the frustration with the connection to MFM & the bugs. But, overall I am quite happy with it. MFM has more functionality than is available for every other EV except those from Tesla. I think Ford did an excellent job coming up with useful functionality for MFM, but I do wish it was more reliable.

See the below thread and try the solution in it to give a hard reset to the MFM communication module. See if it helps.

Have already tried everything, including calling MFM for assistance. Nothing has resolved the issue, so I suspect the cellular modem in the car might need to be replaced. Car will probably go in for service some time in the next couple of months and I will have the service department take a look.
