I though it was funny when my son asked if we could put a windmill on the car to generate electricity as we drove.
LOL! This brought to mind the guys making wind powered cars do some unusual stuff:

Don't forget that if your brake regen score isnt' 100% you are losing even more. I think all the previous examples were comparing to perfect braking.

This is my personal experience.
I commute 85 miles one way up to 3 times a week. Obviously I charge when I get there. It's mostly flat and elevation is near sea level. It's about 75 miles of freeway and 10 miles of city driving. I usually make it with anywhere from 0-10 miles left on the GOM. I used to panic all the time but I just ended up getting comfortable with arriving on "fumes."

I've seen the 0% left of battery and "battery depleted" message 3 miles before my destination but so far I haven't actually been stranded.

Basically I use anywhere between 18-19.4 kWh on this trip. This is about a rate of 215-235 Wh/mi. Heater or defroster is out of the question, at least continuous use. Use for just a few minutes should be ok. AC would actually be ok as I've used it and noticed that it will reduce the range a lot less than most think.

Yes speed kills..... range.
55mph is what gets me there. Painful I know but when the gas savings are making my car payment, who cares.

Also remember that the FFE is very sensitive to altitude change. You may think that you are gaining miles from regen when you are actually simply going downhill. The FFE loses significant energy when going uphill, so it is important to understand what your altitude gain or loss on any given segment is.

But WattsUp is right. He explains it pretty well.

This site lists the 2014 as 81 miles???

The FFE has two feet cubed less passenger volume and one feet cubed less luggage volume than the Leaf. Yet the Leaf is a midsize and the FFE a compact. Doesn't seem like much of a difference.

According to some of us, you can easily do this or better right now (with your 2012-2014 FFE) by simply increasing the tire pressure from the recommended 38 PSI to 45 PSI.

Though, I doubt this is what the 2015 has done. Probably the car is lighter, or has slightly more battery capacity available... or a combination of things.
