Update to MFT Coming Soon for FFE?

This is great news! I've been waiting patiently for months for this update and hope it fixes a few nagging issues I'm having with weekend value charging. I notice that the Ford Sync site is down so hope that we'll see this posted soon. Thank you Ford!!!

Help required on route planning software

Hi Rob, We desperately need better software for this so I'm glad to help any any way I can. (It should be noted that the in-dash Sync nav system does a much better job than the website but it's a time consuming task that doesn't allow for time managed way-point charging to get you to the church...

    Which Charger

I bought this one because of the cable length as many EVs have the charge port at the rear of the car. (This is actually the unit that Ford re-brands for the Geek Squad version.) -Rob G...

MyFord Touch update for FFE or not?

Sounds like the same bug. It's supposed to charge at midnight but says it'll charge when you get home (So I don't plug it in). Ironically, the night before a meeting with Ford engineers in San Jose, I stayed up until after midnight to plug it in and it still didn't charge!!! (I think it was...

Reboot SYNC? (no channel number showing in the 6 text boxes)

The dealer will certainly do it if we want them to (and some updates may require dealer involvement) but for many of the Sync updates, I think we'll be able to do it via the USB interface. (I've heard that Ford might sent us the update USB stick in the mail!)

    Potential new owner questions

to my disappointment, I don't think the L setting really works as a heavy re-gen mode, I think it just adds resistance for steep descents so you can use the regen braking without having to engage the "real" brakes as much (lowering your regeneration percentage). I agree that we need a better L3...

MyFord Touch update for FFE or not?

I attended an official Ford Focus Electric "Focus Group" last week and overheard (though no one would come right out and say it) that we would likely be seeing an update in the next month or so via the mail. They'll make a big deal out of it (and there aren't that many of us to contact) as...

    Potential new owner questions

Hey Parzival, I agree with you that the FFE is a superior driving experience compared to the LEAF. Which is why I leased one even though it's more costly... (I'm also not a huge fan of the industrial design of the LEAF). The FFE's State Of Charge meter is pretty brilliant once you understand...

    Range Anxiety

Hi Red Focus, I'd love an official range table but it's really tricky as there are so many variables to calculate (outdoor temp, wind, speed, acceleration, heater settings etc.). The good news is that I don't think lights, radio, windshield wipers or seat heaters really make much difference as...

Reboot SYNC? (no channel number showing in the 6 text boxes)

This one is a known bug. Just scroll through FM1 to FM2 back around to FM1 and you should see the text. (I went and programmed all three banks to match...) This should be fixed in the next software update.

How Much More is YOUR Electric Bill to Charge The FFE?

Hi SBT, Yes, $120 a month more is about right. (My northern California PG&E bill for my first month was closer to $200 more because I was already in tier 5 rates before the Focus came home). Driving an electric vehicle really requires a multi-faceted lifestyle change. In the last two months...

    Got a BIG PG&E bill $662!

Hi Greg, Solar City is great but they've grown so big that it's a bit of a craps shoot in terms of the techs who will do your installation. I'm leasing the car (betting the battery technology will improve) but buying the solar system. The ROI over the long term is much better than leasing and...

    Got a BIG PG&E bill $662!

Hey Greg, I'm also staring down a huge PG&E bill and have done my homework on E9B and E9A. It was going to cost around $3K for the additional panel, service, permitting and project management costs. I've decided to take that $3K and use it to pay down the cost of a 4kW solar array. (It'll end...

California Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) Decals Reminder

Yes, you do. (Mine finally arrived today!!!) Not only do you get to ride in the car-pool lane but bridge tolls are only $2!!! (This is worth close to $500 a year to me).

    Dear Ford...

Climate issues (simple vent, fixing the fan issue when turning on the climate system) are at the top of the list. I'd also like a "raw" battery budget setting that isn't tied to my last drive or key that will let me work the power gauge for longer trips. I normally speed around town ('cause...

    Sync Version Check

Sorry, typo! I'm running 3.1.3 as well.

    Sync Version Check

My sync status checker is reporting v 3.1.1 but Wikipedia says that the latest is v3.5.1. What version do you all have reporting? I know that the Focus Electric has it's own special version of Sync but I have some spare time this weekend to update my car's firmware is appropriate. -Rob G.

    2013 FFE lease

The 2012s are near impossible to find in CA now and I think the dealerships have recently wizened up about folk's desire for the rain sensing wipers, home link visors and dimming rear view mirrors. Best I could find in northern California was $301 ($329w/tax) with $1,500 down and a generous...
