Hi Forum,

we Crashed our focus into a tree stump. We broke some parts inside the driver side front bumper, specifically the ECM BOX. The Picture attached is a shot of the new box installed and there is a large space between the box and back plate.
(rotate picture 90' clockwise, sorry)

I need a fellow Focus owner to pop the hood, look down behind the driver side head light, to the outside of the frame rail, down in front of the fuse box and see if they too have a gap there from the factory. I'm concerned about the fitment and water resistance of the enclosure.

Much appreciated,
H

Hi Forum,

Is there anyone out there who would pop their hood and take a look for me. If the gap is there, I'm glad to let it go but I have it in the back of my mind that I'm potentially getting water into a $580 ECM and wiring loom.

It would take little time to look. I've contributed to others questions and I need your help.

Thank you for your time and effort to help a fellow FFE owner.
H

Here is a pic of under my hood with the driver's headlight & fusebox included. I'll put the link here and leave the pic at the full res my phone took it at (4MB file):

Wasn't able to determine what your picture was looking at--it was far to close in. Hopefully the above pic answers your question--you can see the frame rail running through it just below the orange wire.

Mr Mueller,
Thank you for the initiative. I see the picture. I will take a picture further away. I also see my pic form whatever reason is rotated. The pic is supposed to be rotated 90' clockwise.

The box in question is right next to the big orange plug. Under the plug sits the car's frame rail. The Box sits next to the frame rail under the curved radiator support that leads to the fender. I can see one of the attachment points in the picture but the rest is blocked.

If you have the patience and time to shoot one more picture, please take it from the "big Foam thing" on the motor towards the big orange plug.
The Box hangs down pretty much at wheel height in front of the driver front wheel.

This is the best picture of it. yes, it sits under the radiator support. It looks like the orange cable goes to the box. It doesn't, but it is hiding the back plate that screws onto the box.

The separation on mine is from the back plate to the box, about a 1/5-1/4 inch gap. you can't see it in these pictures unfortunately.

If you eyeball it in passing, please let me know. You've been very helpful so far Jamie. Thank you for settling my nerves.
a properly oriented photo of the box.
