So I'm pretty sure Ford has given up on us...

Ok, looks like forum people are already on the aftermarket CHAdeMO projects. I feel better now. I guess if we don't have Ford we still have each other. http://www.myfocuselectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2548&p=20730#p20730

    Quick charge project

This is awesome news. Are you going to eventually sell kits? I would love to add CHAdeMO to my FFE in the future after a handful of months of testing without any explosions of course :D. This would be the first major step to improve the FFE and make it a real car. Also, any thoughts as to adding...

So I'm pretty sure Ford has given up on us...

Yeah. Unfortunately that's like saying the only thing missing on your gas car is a hookup to filling stations. You'll have to fill it up by hand. That takes three hours (no road trips for you). And the tank is 2 gallons.

So I'm pretty sure Ford has given up on us...

Well, sucks to say but I'm looking to offload my FFE in the next handful of months. I bought it with the intention Ford would be proactive about EV's but I'm guessing it will be years until Ford gets to that level. I understand Ford's thinking about this; they would rather wait and focus on...

Did my FFE somehow keep driving past 0 miles range??

So here's the scoop (and the 10k mile update on my now 18k "lemoned" FFE). I had a long day today, lots of short trips. I was on my way home after grabbing a quick run through jack in the box when my heart sank, I had over-estimated the range by a couple miles. I was already running in 32f...

    Cold Weather Charging and Mileage

Glad to see nothing's wrong with mine. I have the 2013 Black FFE now with 17,000 miles (the $16,500 recalled FFE still running like a champ), but yeah, the winter battery is terrible. I have a 60 mile round trip commute, in Saint Louis weather. The low last night was -5. I have a charging...

Is my shiny new(ish) focus EV about to become worthless?

Hello everyone, its been a while since I've been on here. I came across an article which I found to be intriguing yet quite concerning at the same time. Rumors are reporting that the 2016 Nissan Leaf will have 186 miles range. Given this, my guess is Ford's reply shall be... nothing. Ford has...

New owner - I finally jumped in and bought an FFE

Well, I'm an FFE owner. I test drove a 2013 Black FFE a few weeks ago and was a bit concerned about the logistics of the vehicle. I live in St. Louis, MO and I have a 60 mile round trip commute with an 8-9 hour 110v recharge at the office. I was a bit concerned when my dealer car only got about...

Wow! Leaf low battery replacement cost - $5500 dealer!!!

This looks to be great news. Nissan is now selling brand new replacement packs for the leaf for only $5500. I knew battery prices would be coming down, but I didn't know it would be THIS fast!! Since the Ford EV has 8yr/100k, I would say the battery risk is pretty minimal. In 5-8 years...

    240v on 30amp dryer outlet

Sorry, should have specified, I have a gas dryer which runs on the 110v/120v outlet. The 240v isn't used for anything. Do all chargers allow you specify the amperage you would like to charge at? Can I set any charger to charge at 24amp? Thanks

    240v on 30amp dryer outlet

Hello everyone, I'm considering getting a FFE and have a question about the 240v chargers. I have a dryer outlet in my laundry room which adjoins the garage (how convenient), but I know its only a 30amp outlet, and I know that I won't be able to run 30amp on it due to 80% constant load...

    120v Charging Outdoors

Great analysis Sefs, very nicely done. I performed similar analysis assuming a "slightly slower (2-3mph)" charge and came to relatively similar conclusions. I ran the guestimations with serveral different variable scenarious and came to a general estimation of 5-10 miles remaining when I get...

    120v Charging Outdoors

Hey WattsUp, sorry I should have been more specific. I'm not overly concerned about the 55-60 miles range at 70mph (I can slow down to 60mph to extend range, but I guess I didn't know it really helps THAT much, so thanks for the advice!!), what I'm more concerned about is cold charging. My...

    120v Charging Outdoors

Hello everyone, I am considering a pre-owned 2013 FFE with 7000 miles. I test drove it today, and I got 55-60 miles range at 70mph with AC on. Not great in my book. I am concerned about my daily commute. I have a heated garage and a 30 mile all highway drive from the St. Louis suburbs into...
