I have just completed the Lemon Buyback process with Ford

From start to finish it took about 3 months!

I will in the next few days give a detailed account of my experience to help others save some sanity.

I can say, in the end I was very unhappy with Ford (communication, efficiency, etc...) and happy with the 3rd party company that does the "buyback" for them.

Stay tuned!

Any update on this?

My journey begins on June 27, after a series of SSN failures (see below) I contacted FORD customer service and Mark Coll. I will include TIPS IN BOLD (not yelling :)......

I emailed Mark Coll who is the regional Los Angeles Customer Service Person: 866 .631.3788 ext. 77749 I had to send him all work reports, etc...

HAVE ALL WORK REPORTS READY AND ALSO MAKE SURE THAT IT STATES IT IS A SSN AND VEHICLE HAS STOPPED.

The following incidents:

SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING INCIDENT #1

On 6/12/13 I was driving with my 3 1/2 year-old son on the freeway when the vehicle COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. A vehicle behind me swerved to avoid hitting me. I was escorted to the side by CHP. After about 30 minutes the car started again and I drove to the dealership. On 6/14/13 I picked up my vehicle. (3 days)

SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING INCIDENT #2

On 6/26/13 again with my son in the car while I was making a left turn at a busy intersection the vehicle again COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. I was narrowly T-boned by another vehicle. Culver City Police Officer came and provided assistance. The vehicle was towed and is still at the dealership as I write this to you (2 + days).

This incident occurred after my contact with Mark Coll on June 27th which I also emailed to him.
SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING INCIDENT #3

July 14th after picking up the vehicle from the shop on July 12th it shut down again while I was driving down a hill with my son.

Mr. Coll contacted me middle of July to say "Ford will re-purchase the vehicle from me".

I was contacted by the 3rd party company Buyback People Charmyne Hill Phone 800-367-3050 | Ext: 7211052 on July 30.

September- I was sent a refund sheet that was incorrect PLEASE CHECK THIS WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT!!!!

On Sept 3rd, the Ford Inspector inspected the vehicle at the dealership. I sent the form to Mrs. Hill via email.

BE PRESENT AT THE INSPECTION AS WHATEVER DAMAGE THEY SEE WILL COME OUT OF YOUR POCKET

After wrangling back and forth about gas, rental, etc and contacting Lynn Buckmann... I was told to meet with the "Government Relations Person" at the dealership to Inspect the car and pick up my refund check.

BE AT THAT INSPECTION, THIS PERSON HAD NO CLUE WHAT DOCUMENTS TO INCLUDE TO FORD SO THAT MY LOAN WOULD BE PAID. MAKE SURE YOU AGREE WITH THE INSPECTION AS AGAIN THIS WILL COME OUT OF YOUR POCKET. TAKE YOUR REGISTRATION AND COMPLETE YOUR TITLE TRANSFER FORM THAT DAY. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO HAVE NOTARIZED YOUR RELEASE OF TITLE SO THAT FORD CAN PAY OFF THE LOAN IF YOU OWE MONEY ON THE CAR

IF YOU HAVE A CREDIT FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA CLEAN AIR YOU WILL PAY BACK A PRORATED RATE THIS IS CALCULATED AND IS NOT NEGOTIABLE THEY WILL TAKE YOU TO COURT. I AM GETTING THE PRORATED AMOUNT FROM THEM NOW.

BOTTOM LINE: KEEP ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS, THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO COMMUNICATION FROM FORD TO THE 3rd PARTY BUYBACK PROCESS ONCE YOU ENTER THAT YOU ARE IN THEIR (BUYBACK) HANDS FORD WILL NOT BUDGE, BE VIGILANT AND MAKE SURE YOUR RIGHTS ARE BEING MET.

The only real hero's in this were Lynn Buckman from FORD and the 3rd Party person Mrs. Hill.
FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT HELP YOU....

THIS IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Looks like they make your life miserable even for their fault. From what you have described, the buyback process sounds like a root canal. The dealer updated software on my FFE last week for the SSN.

I just started my buyback process but I chose to pick another vehicle with the same sticker price.
Minics sent the paperwork to the dealer Tuesday and today (Thursday) the dealer will send the info on the F150 I chose to Minics and the dealer said myself and them should have the worksheet emailed to us within a week. Then the process should only be a few more weeks.
