The high voltage battery for new FFE is going to be assembled by Ford in the near future.
The individual cells are made by LG chemical, but the battery packs are assembled by a third party.
I suspect that Ford is bringing it in house in order to improve the quality of the battery packs. This should reduce battery pack failures that a few owners have seen. Since the battery pack have an 8 year 100,000 mile warranty on them it's critical that high manufacturing quality standards are maintained.
