Long time owners without major issues?

I'm glad to hear that, as my concern was motivated by this less-than-reassuring post by sefs a few days ago (indicating hardware related SSNs): --begin quote Unfortunately, as the many pages of this post make apparent, there are many different things that can cause SSN. It is my opinion that...

Long time owners without major issues?

Just curious: How likely is it that I will reach 36k miles without any major issues (SSN, etc)? Any long-time owners out there with success stories?

    Is this "hill hold"?

Does the "hill hold" feature work in the forward direction as well? I've noticed a couple of times that the rear brakes were automatically held AFTER shifting from R to D, and I had to press the accelerator to move forward (rather than automatically creep). It didn't seem that I was on any...

    A mysterious nudge when stopped

Thanks hybridbear, that definitely sounds plausible. Based upon what you're saying, it should be possible to reproduce this condition deliberately. However, I tried today and got no nudge.

    A mysterious nudge when stopped

Thanks for the reply. This sounds like an intriguing theory, though the ghosts are possible too :P. I will check the next time if I'm on an incline, but I think that this would be happening more often if it was due to the "hill hold" feature.

    A mysterious nudge when stopped

Once every so often, when I'm stopped at a traffic light with my foot firmly on the brake, I feel a momentary nudge like something tried to push the car forward for a split second. The first time this happened, I thought that the car behind me had touched my rear bumper. This doesn't happen...

    Battery Capacity Calculation

Thanks for the useful info. A couple of points: - I assume that the trip meter doesn't account for power consumed during Acc mode or when remote start is active. -Adding up the pertinent individual energy usage numbers from the MyFord Mobile website results in a total around 15kwh, far less...

    Battery Capacity Calculation

The trip meter can be configured to show total kWh and Wh/mile. If it is reset at a full charge, does the total used kWh value at 0 mi range => usable battery capacity? Or put another way, does the reported Wh/mile * miles travelled from Full to Empty = usable battery capacity? My trip...

    Brake and steering behavior

Thanks Rogerschro. You say "...in the situation you described it may transition from tight to loose feeling causing you to feel it 'pull'...". But, if the steering wheel gets looser as the speed decreases, it should be easier to hold it off-center. Is this incorrect? I also notice that...

    Brake and steering behavior

Thanks, I disabled TC and it didn't make any difference. This article sheds some light on the electric power steering technology used in Ford vehicles, and which may be what I am observing: http://wardsauto.com/news-amp-analysis/ford-s-electric-steering-enables-pull-drift-technology I wonder...

    Brake and steering behavior

Since there hasn't been confirmation that this is common to all FFEs, I wonder if what I'm observing is unique to my car. Is it possible that the electric power steering is somehow being affected when strong regen is initiated?

    Brake and steering behavior

It would be good to understand how regen from braking induces torque steer. I searched the web but couldn't find any explanation. I wonder if driving in 'L' exhibits the same behavior.

    Brake and steering behavior

Thanks, so I assume you feel it too?

    Brake and steering behavior

Just picked up an FFE on Sunday. Everything is great so far, but I have one question: I notice that while braking below 25 mph, if the steering is being held slightly off-center (to follow a slight curve for example), I feel a force trying to bring the wheel back to center while the brake is...

    Reported range drop normal?

Thanks very much for your replies. From what you're saying, the battery behavior appears normal, and ambient heat induced degradation is not a problem on the FFE as it appears to be on the LEAF, correct? ( So I don't have to go looking for a recently built one. )

    Reported range drop normal?

I test drove a 2014 Ice Storm FFE yesterday evening in Northern California. I liked nearly everything about it, but the way the range dropped during the drive is a bit concerning: -The car reported 86 miles range when first powered up. The outside temperature was about 60F. -The salesman and...
