2017 Focus electric 100-Mile Range, DC Fast Charging

I was a little disappointed also about the 100 mile range, but the DC fast charging might make up for that.

Stop Safely Now - New information

Last week I had to take my 2014 Focus electric in for the SSN issue for the second time. The first time, back in May, the dealer cleaned the connector and applied conductive grease to the smaller terminal as instructed by the TSB. This time, however, the technician called Ford and was given some...

    Regen & Panic Stops

Hybridbear, You should have gotten a 110 % for stopping in time. I'm a cyclist myself, but that guy that ran the light deserves a 0%. Where I live, cyclists are required to observe all traffic laws, just as motorists.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

The Motorcraft site is subscription based. You can subscribe for 1 month for about 20.00. I don't know if I'm allowed to post things from their website. Let me see what I can do. You should be able to give the dealer that TSB # and they can look it up. I had originally taken my FFE in for a...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

A new TSB just came out today on the Motorcraft Service website. The TSB is 15-0031 and involves getting DTC P0A0A:01. This refers to a connection issue with the high voltage interlock near the battery pack. If your dealer has not addressed this issue, I would take it to them asap and have them...

My FFE won't charge and it is car problem not charger

There is a TSB on charging issues on motorcraft's service site. The TSB is 14-0227. If you encounter this again, take it to your dealer and have them install the patch if that is the problem.

Brake Warning Light & Other Questions

If you have an OBD reader or can borrow one that will work on the Focus, check the DTC readout for a brake booster pressure sensor error. I found that on mine, checked the sensor connector, and found brake fluid in the connector. As you are facing the booster, the sensor is located on the lower...

    Brake Power Booster problem

I recently had a problem with brake fluid leaking into the power brake booster. I got a C0047 code while running an OBD scan. Apparently brake fluid damaged the pressure sensor on the booster and it had to be replaced. I am thinking my car had a defective master cylinder installed at the factory...

    Better 12V battery option?

Another thing to keep in mind regarding the dc-dc converter is that it can deliver as much as 100 amps of charge current to that 12 volt battery, according to the service manual. That's almost a 3C charge rate. I know of no other service manuals other than the online version. I paid for a year's...

    Better 12V battery option?

According to the MotorCraft service manual, the battery is rated at 43 amp hours. Deep cycle batteries are usually rated in Amp hrs. I recently had to remove my 12V battery and tray to check a brake booster issue. Pretty light for a lead acid battery. Deep cycle batteries are much heavier due to...

Has your dealer run any OBD scans to check for error codes? If so, see if you can post them here.

Car Shutdown after Back Hatch not closed properly

Since I experienced my first, and hopefully, only SSN, I keep the following items in my car: Voltmeter plugged into the 12V accessory port to monitor the 12v battery 12V emergency portable jumpstart. I bought this one from Sears which has a handy push button charge level check. OBD Bluetooth...

OBD Scan Tools Info / Data

I was trying to connect to the obdlink-mx device using bluetooth with Windows Vista. Had some issues with it demanding a passkey. I will try again with a Windows 7 laptop. I am using the OBD port that is behind a small door on the left side of the steering wheel.

OBD Scan Tools Info / Data

GladeStorm, Which version of Forscan are you using? I installed the latest beta version and it won't connect to my obdlink-mx.

    obd2 scan devices

Tried calling scantools.net but they only list a sales fax number. Going to start over with the basics and check the pinout of the obd connector to find which protocol is used. It may be the J1850 PWM protocol, but I understand Ford changes this on some vehicles.

    obd2 scan devices

Actually, if I can find an OBD scan device that would just return P codes, that would suffice for now. Other functions such as battery voltage, temp, etc would be nice to have also. I'll call scantool.net and ask them if the info on their website is out of date or just wrong. Thanks!

    obd2 scan devices

According to the scantool.net site, the OBDLink-MX is not compatible with hydrid and electric autos.
