Bosch Powermax failed after only 2 years

If it's copper wire, 75' is very expensive. I remember at the time of my initial install that copper wire was required. I don't recall if that was code or just part of the Bosch install instructions, but the electrician seemed to agree that copper was needed. He only charged a couple hundred...

Bosch Powermax failed after only 2 years

Unfortunately, the Bosch died 2 years + a few days after the original purchase. It's like it knew...

Bosch Powermax failed after only 2 years

$1000 is a pretty painful number. Still worth it IMO given the convenience of home fueling + lower cost per mile driven for an EV. We're fortunate with our setup that the EVSE is directly on the other side of the wall from our box, so not much wire was needed for the original install, keeping...

Bosch Powermax failed after only 2 years

My 30a Bosch Powermax has failed after 2 years. I didn't use one of Bosch's installers so it's no longer under warranty (1 year warranty if using your own installer, 3 year if using over priced Bosch installer -- different length warranties depending on installer seems pretty lame to me). The...

    changing wheels and tires

Interesting. Is there a downside (besides non LRR range concerns) to using run flats? I'm still leaning towards the Continentals, will probably pull the trigger soon.

    changing wheels and tires

I'm thinking about getting some new tires for my FFE. Like many here, I'm not happy with the slippery, squealing traction, particularly in wet weather. I'm wondering if anyone who has replaced their stock tires has any further updates or opinions on the results. I'm looking at getting the...

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

Finally installed the Torklift hitch on my FFE. Here are a couple photos: With the bike carrier attached: The only downside is that without the bike carrier attached, it looks like I have a tailpipe now:

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

Thanks, eeafp, that's great to hear. Glad to know the install was relatively simple. Did you have the back of the car on ramps to give more room underneath? I second WattsUp's request for photos. Would love to see how it turned out!

A few photos of my new Platinum White Focus Electric

Took this photo while waiting at a long light today. The bumper sticker on the truck says, "Have you hugged your oil man today?" I'm guessing the driver of that truck wouldn't like my car...

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

I watched the torklift install video again, and it looks like a pretty simple install. Unless I'm missing something, it looks like you just fish wire to pull 6(?) bolts into place. Then just put the hitch in place and tighten the nuts. I might try doing it myself before paying someone else.

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

Looked up the Focus EV on the uhaul website and got this result: "Your vehicle requires a custom-built hitch which we will gladly fabricate for you. If you are able to bring your vehicle to our Tempe, AZ Research & Development facility we'll provide you with a free U-Haul custom trailer hitch...

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

I checked today with the dealership and they told me that adding a hitch for the purpose of attaching a bike carrier is fine and will not void the warranty. They said that as long as there isn't a wiring harness attached to suggest it's used for towing, it's ok. I think I might want to get that...

A few photos of my new Platinum White Focus Electric

700+ miles in, I'm very happy with this car. It really has lived up to expectations. I mostly do city driving, and have already saved $$$$ on gas. a few more photos: "spring" weather coordinates nicely with the platinum white My rear end is dirty, but not from my own emissions remote start...

A few photos of my new Platinum White Focus Electric

The dealer has promised me a painted-to-match plug for the hole. Still waiting, but I'll post a photo once I get it. In the mean time, I can confirm that plugging in to charge during a rain storm is safe.

A few photos of my new Platinum White Focus Electric

I like them too. Much nicer looking than the Leaf (the only other "affordable" option in PA). This might be news only to me, but I noticed something last night when I got out of the car after dark. Downward illumination from the side mirrors. Very cool.

Thanks for the link. Not sure I'll be able to get the same out of my dealership here. Still working with them on a fix. I'll post a photo when it's taken care of.

A few photos of my new Platinum White Focus Electric

Four days in, and we are very very happy with this car. The effortless, silent acceleration is addictive. Before we leased the platinum white, we had an oxford white for a 24 hour test drive. In the end, I think I prefer the metallic finish of the platinum white, but I'm sure I would have been...

A few photos of my new Platinum White Focus Electric

Thankfully, PA doesn't require front plates. The car actually had a front plate holder on it (I think it was originally at a dealership in NJ), but I had them take it off. Unfortunately, it left 3 small holes. The two upper holes blend in with the black grill, but the bottom hole is in the white...
