    Anyone get the extended Warranty

Great discussions guys. One additional feature of the extended warranty ... Free Replacement car during repairs. But based upon this discussion I've decided not to get the warranty.

    Depreciation FYI

Car costs Ford $60K to make and considering the Feds rebate your getting it for a steal.

Did you negotiate your price under MSRP ?

Golden rule of negotiating a car deal ... is the salesman upset with your first offer? If he's not upset, you paid too much. Agree this is not for everyone though like sensitive types.

120v or 240v, which is the better choice?

Slower charge is better and preserves battery life. I've never used anything other than 120v at home.

Financially ideal to buy a new Focus Electric every year

Hi everyone - has you can see from Tony's Tips for buying the Focus Electric in the Buying/Leasing section, I'm a hardball negotiator and last year I got my focus for really low numbers which after the Tax rebate it was just sub-$20K (although I feel theses deals are easy to be had if you try)...

Tony's tips for new buyers of FFE

Excellent execution of a buying strategy Abelgoddard ... the new car deal negotiation process is a modern day battle of wits between two opponents, similar to ancient Gladiatorial fights. And in that battle you totally crushed your foe. The way you walked out of the dealership despite having...

    Six months, 11,500 miles

LOL. I thought I was doing a solid commute but looks like you beat me.

    Anyone get the extended Warranty

After 6 months my Focus EV is doing great, simply an incredible vehicle for the price. But my mileage is bumping up there, 10K for the 6 months, so on-target to breach the baseline warranty within a couple of years. I've started to look at the extended warranty options (there's a couple of...

Thermal management when not plugged in....?

Yes, same here, feels weird to leave it running. But michael raises an interesting question and maybe we need to look at this as a new paradigm. I'd be interested to hear feedback on Ford on what there recommendations are on this?

Tony's tips for new buyers of FFE

Tip #3 Once you've found a car start discussion on the deal in the middle of the month, but plan to close on the absolute last working day of the month (dont let the dealer know). Some people will tell you this is a myth - these people are either dealers or clueless. For informational...

    Good / Bad Lease Deal

Agreeing with Michael. Don't touch this one buddy, unless you enjoy financing your car dealers next Sandals vacation.

    Gas reimbursement on loaners?

In Fords warranty they have to provide equivalent vehicle if its not EV they have to reimburse you for gas. Thats the bottom line.

    $178/month 0 down 24 month lease

I think he did. He even posted a redacted scan of the contract! Any prudent lease purchaser would use a print of that as negotiation tactic with a dealership.

Kid dropped hot-chocolate on car seat

Got it out using borax and water solution. Can't even tell the chocolate was there and no wear on seat. Looks like borax is good cleaning solution for these car seats material.

    Got my first electric bill!

Michael - my experience was similar to yours. With the first PSE&G bill I was expecting the big bust but it turned out to be a big fizzle. I do the bulk of my charging at work too since its free and L2. I only got 110V at home. The bill was a couple of bucks higher but nothing to worry about...

    Worried about cold temperatures?

Wow that was exciting to read I guess almost as many twists and turns as a George R Martin novel. Had me hanging in there until the end to see the conclusion. I guess its fascinating to read accounts like this because we've all been there to some extent. As FFE owners we've all lived our version...

Tony's tips for new buyers of FFE

Tip #2: Expedite the negotiation process by calling up a couple of dealers and tell them that you're about to sign a contract for new lease or purchase at an out-of-state dealership but you wanted to just check if the local dealer had something in stock because he's closer to you etc. At this...

Safety tips for new drivers for FFE

Tip 2: Make sure to carry windshield anti-freeze spray and snow brush etc. The car simply will not heat up the front windsheild as much as a regular car, frankly its not even close. Not too much an issue if you're close to L2 and/or the ice is minor. But if your parked somwhere for a day when it...

Good price on leftover 2013 FFE?

That's great info for the OP Michael. The next 3 days are pretty much the absolute best time of the month/year to play "nail the dealer".
