Solar Roof Concept Ford C-Max - pretty cool, its a start!

I saw the concentrating sun idea on you tube a few years back, where a guy demonstrated a clunky homemade version on a very small scale. It worked pretty well but was roughly constructed. I remember thinking that if they could somehow incorporate small lenses above or in each solar cell it might...

Anyone driving in L for extended periods seeing better range

Thanks for the comments, I didn't think about the potential for a higher % of loss during a more aggressive regen. Also the brake light issue is an interesting one, maybe future electric cars will have an option for automatic brake light activation when in an aggressive regen mode...

Anyone driving in L for extended periods seeing better range

I have recently started driving in L to see if there is any difference in range performance with the more aggressive regen. I have about 6200 miles on FFE with D driving. In the last few hundred miles I feel like I am actually getting better range, I am not sure if this is wishful thinking as...

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

Also less practical because the chance of finding two conveniently-located 120V outlets on different legs of the same power supply is probably fairly low. I was thinking this too, but upon closer inspection it seems that a 240V breaker taps into the same bus bar, so I don't think you actually...

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

Dang it you are right! I forgot about that little technicality in my excitement of devising the idea. However, theoretically if a charger was around that only required 2 x 12AMP legs ( to stay within 80%) then you could effectively double the charge rate of the charger that is included with the...

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

Had a thought and wanted to get input. The idea came from Honda's series of generators that can be 'daisy chained' to produce higher wattage/amps. So here goes.... Based on how a 240V circuit is currently wired into the breaker panel i.e.: it has 2 physical connections onto the busbar and...

    Accessing 100% of the battery

Am I correct though that the Leaf can be charged to 100% of batt capacity and not just 80% like in the FFE? If the answer is yes, then is there a way for us to access the additional 20% of our batteries capacity? Either by a reprogram or hack of some sort? This is my first electric car, but...

    25a chargers? Cheaply?

I have the CC version and think it is great value for the money, coming off the included L1 charger, the L2 was so much quicker. Most of the time we are charged in a couple hours based on our usage. However since we love the electric car we will be upgrading in the future (3-yrs) to whatever...

    Accessing 100% of the battery

Anybody made any attempts to find out how to access 100% of the battery capacity? I was just reading an article on the VW Golf E and it has a 24kWH batt and is said to go 115 miles. That kind of mileage should be achievable for the FFE if we had ALL the battery. I know long term battery life...

    Another observation with Value Charging

I too have been experiencing this problem, this is quite frustrating. Something as simple as a calendar shouldn't have these issues. I did use the idea of the charge preference toggling, I however paid the price when I traveled out of town for the week and the wife was using the FFE. She doesn't...

Ouch A/C costs 22 miles of range?

I notice that some temperature settings, if close to the outdoor temperature, even with A/C is on, can also engage the heater, which requires much more power than the A/C. (I guess the climate system is too stupid to simply mix in the outdoor air until the desired temperature is reached.) When...

Possible reason for Value Charge not working

My issue is related to the value charge profile . Set mine according to the cheapest rates as I have time of use service. Off peak for me is evenings and weekends . So now the car won't charge on Saturdays, it waits until midnight.... Any suggestions?

    It has happened

Thanks for the suggestion on the Schumacher. I actually use a portable version of the one you posted a link of. It works great. :)
