Hey!

Strangely enough, I just got a call to sit in on trombone at 2 on Sunday at the Lakewood Library. Been sick all week, may not be going anywhere :-(

Its just the EVSE cable they don't really need the car.

Has anyone gotten their replacement charger yet? My letter said they would send me another letter when it was available which I haven't received yet. Just checked my charger though and it had some serious heat damage. Rubber has melted a bit on the plug and one of the prongs is blackened. At home I charge exclusively using the 120 volt, since I don't drive my FFE a ton (have a short 5 minute commute to work). I'm now paranoid about charging it overnight and starting a fire in my garage. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone on here has had luck getting a new one yet.

It's an EVSE, the charger is built into the car. Clean the corrosion off your plug. and the heat will go away. If it doesn't, likely the outlet you are using is in bad shape, replace it!

So my dealer is claiming they have to keep my car for half a day in order to replace the EVSE. They're claiming there's some kind of inspection that has to happen. This is a giant pain in the ass for me since I have to drop off my car, get a ride to work, get a ride back to the dealership later in the day... just to have the charging cable swapped out. Am I right to be annoyed or is there actually some other work that I'm not aware of that has to be done that requires keeping my car for half a day?

The inspection is checking the build date of the EVSE. If it falls within the right dates, they replace it. Most dealerships won't carry the part, and will have to then order it. I got lucky, someone else ordered it, but decided not to bring the car back in (?).

They also claimed I had to drop it off, but I told them I'd take a loaner and all of a sudden they could do it in 20 minutes.

They did offer an oil change, but I turned it down this time. :D

I think you have the right to be annoyed! I'm annoyed too! Why should this require two trips to the dealer? I called Ford to find out what the "inspection" entales and they wouldn't tell me. The agent just kept reading a paragraph from the recall letter over and over again. I told him if they are only replacing cords with visual damage, don't waste my time going to the dealer! The dealer I go to for service is far enough away that it takes a full charge to get there. That means a full day at the dealer - 1/2 day for the appointment and a few hours to charge. In my opinion, the part should be ordered within a phone call and a easy swap when it arrives. Or better yet, mail the cord with a return label to mail the old one back. Come on Ford! You send me a letter telling me the cord can burn my house down, make me wait months for parts, then make it as difficult as possible to get the new charger!?
