Walgreens may charge to charge your Ford Focus Electric

As we wrote about a few days ago, Walgreens is planning on installing charging stations at about 800 of it’s 7700 stores around the country by the end of the year. We had also talked about how the charging stations may be a level 3 charge that the 2012 Ford Focus Electric doesn’t even have.

To top it off, Plugincars.com noticed an under reported fact that Walgreens may charge between $3 and $4 for a 90 minute charge. This would provide about 20 miles in the Nissan Leaf, and perhaps 40 miles in the Ford Focus Electric or Coda Electric Sedan. At that price, the Nissan Leaf would be costing you the same amount to ‘fill up’ as a vehicle that gets 20 miles to the gallon.

Someone noted on the site that if the price is too cheap, people will pay for the charge just to use it as a parking spot – which would then cause a trouble when you wanted to charge your Ford Focus Electric!
