    Key In Fob

Sure you would... just smash a window and you're in. Who needs that pesky key in the fob?

    IP address (or) MAC address

If you connect to your personal wifi network when parked at home, you can probably see the MAC addresses for all devices (including the FFE) somewhere in your router/AP admin page. Btw, the IP address assigned to the car (by your router/AP) when connected to your personal wifi network will mean...

whats the highest odometer reading on a FFE?

When your FFE was new, you probably would have seen around 19 kWh, or even more, for the run-down test. So, you have approximate battery fade of at least 15%.

    2017 FFE light sensor

Sorry no. Maybe leave a dead sparrow on top of the sensor to stop it from changing all the time?

    EMF magnetic radiation

No idea. Curious, though. If you are concerned about exposure to electromagnetic effects, why did you buy an electric car?

    Guess-o-meter strangeness

Think about it, typical range of the FFE (23 kWh) battery is only about 75 miles (under ideal normal use). That's like driving a gas car that only carries about 3 gallons of gas, perhaps even less. Can you imagine how attuned you would become to how quickly (or slowly) you burned through those...

    Completely at a loss

Best thing I ever did for my FFE was install an Optima D35 battery to replace the original Motorcrap battery. https://www.amazon.com/Optima-Batteries-8040-218-YellowTop-Purpose/dp/B000MSDKMA The D35 fits perfectly in the FFE battery holder. If you can afford it, you will not regret having an...

Which plug to use 240 or 120

Note that the process of charging the battery itself is also around 90% efficient. What you have measured is basically the efficiency of the charger in 1) converting voltage and 2) converting from AC to DC. So, when taking both this electrical conversion efficiency (roughly 10%, as...

Which plug to use 240 or 120

Excess heat, yes. But, generally speaking, being warmer is more optimal... warmer batteries perform better. And some battery chemistries, like Li-ion and NiMH, actually get cooler when charging (endothermic), hotter when discharging (exothermic). Excess heat involved in charging is usually...

Which plug to use 240 or 120

Technically, the longer you take to fill a gas tank, the more time you allow for some gasoline to evaporate in the process (since the tank is unsealed, plus gas is flowing with some exposure to the atmosphere). So, with gas too, faster is better. (Granted, the loss to evaporation is...

New 2017 Models below $20k BEFORE tax credit

The federal incentive is a tax credit (not a refund) that everyone qualifies for (assuming purchase of a qualifying vehicle). Whether everyone can actually use the credit, since you can't apply it unless you owe some tax, is another question.

Got screwed by a charger 1st time... Thankfully, no big deal

I don't think it is required for the car to be off to charge. Once plugged in, you can't shift out of Park, but you can turn the car on/off all you want. It will keep charging.

    Wifi in car

I don't get it... you park at home (so the car can connect to your home wifi) and then you sit in your car connecting and using your devices? Wouldn't you rather be in your house using your devices?

Questionnaire for Electric Vehicle Charging Preferences and

@joeyclegg, you might get more positive responses if you used a survey method known to be truly anonymous. There is no way for us to know if your surveymonkey.com survey is truly anonymous. It is not hard to find out that surveymonkey.com offers many features to track, and possibly identify...

    Stalling on startup

There is no "reversing contactor". The field polarity in the AC motor is simply (and purely electronically) inverted, driving the axle in the opposite direction. In fact, nothing mechanical occurs when "shifting into" reverse in the FFE, other than the movement of the gear stick itself, which...

    Tesla Adapter

All these EVSE enclosures are way over-sized. If you open any one of them up, you will find a lot of empty space and a circuit board much smaller than the box it is mounted in. It's all kinda silly really. I have no idea why they make them so big. I guess they think people want to feel like...

What to use to clean cloth seats?

Huh? You rub these on the cloth seats to clean them? Don't they (the sponges) just disintegrate if you do that? For me, Magic Erasers work well on smooth or lightly textured nonporous surfaces, but anything with texture just starts to eat the sponge away very quickly. I'm sure Magic Erasers...

2017 FFE let's get some real data here.

Huh? Is this a family of one person? Assuming more than one, what if there's an emergency and the person with the license is incapacitated and can't drive?

    12v battery appears dead

Maybe not so with the FFE, though. With an ICE car, the starter needs to supply a lot "cranking amps" to get the engine to turn over (perhaps even a few times). With the FFE, it just needs to run the electronics. No stressful "cranking" of an ICE engine is needed.
