Lets take a poll, who has the most miles/years on their FFE?

Good to point out. All of my post was dealing with what was reported on the dash, which is what your typical driver would deal with. Perhaps it might make things clearer if we were to use better terms. Such as "SOC actual" for the pack, and "SOC gauge" for what shows on the dashboard display...

Lets take a poll, who has the most miles/years on their FFE?

I got to thinking about this in a discussion somewhere else about battery longevity. The discussion got into a lot of speculation about what takes its toll on the battery. Some leaned towards number of charge/discharge cycles while some leaned towards extent of the cycles (40% to 90% SOC vs...

Lets take a poll, who has the most miles/years on their FFE?

I meant to post this on Friday... My odometer reached 160,000 km (100,000 miles) on Friday. It's been fairly cold, so my range is about 120 km in a full charge, but that has been typical over its 7+ years of use. The display shows its lifetime regenerated energy distance is just over 20,000 km.

    Setting "Home" Value Charge Schedule

It is so frustrating that several features that existed in the old MyFord app (meaning the vehicle is capable of monitoring and controllin) were simply stripped out of FordPass, especially when FordPass supports similar features for other vehicles (I can only speak about the Lightning, but I've...

70K miles in ten years of Chicago's weather.

Thanks for the correction - I was only thinking of the two up front and centre below the foam cover over the motor.

70K miles in ten years of Chicago's weather.

So do I. While it doesn't increase the amount of regen possible, it makes it more probable that you will get more of the regen by not having the blended braking if the brake pedal start using friction braking sooner. Unfortunately, the "brake score" that is displayed only does its calculation...

    Network Error Message on Display

Agreed, which is why I'm loath to pay a dealership to run diagnostics that are not likely to reveal something that may not reveal itself when being looked at.

    Network Error Message on Display

I'll keep my multimeter in the car so I can give it a check should it happen, or when I see the display showing signs that it had occurred. I did replace the 12V battery earlier this year, but if something is drawing power it may be a possible cause of this.

    Network Error Message on Display

A few months ago, after parking and shutting off my FFE, when I got out the door wouldn't lock. I got back in and everything in the dash was dead, though the cabin lights were working. I had to do something else, so I came back a couple of hours later and everything worked fine. A couple of...

    Traction Control Off Warning

Lately, I have been seeing this a little more often. Other than the annoying beeping when the indicator comes on, it's no great issue. Plus, with winter coming, it might be helpful to have the traction control off when I have to drive in fresh snow.

Is 100-120 Miles Possible with a Ford Focus Electric

When the weather is ideal for no heating or A/C (and need for heating and A/C compressor isn't limited to cabin temperature settings - the battery may need heating or cooling), I've found I can get between 180 and 200 km on a charge. That's about 111-122 miles. That involves keeping the speed...

    Winter Tires suggestions

I have to second the grip benefit, and snow is not required to experience it. All season tires get hard like a hockey puck, and pucks are NOT designed to grip cold surfaces. On clear dry pavement, you'll feel the difference. When I bought my FFE, during the waiting for it to be built, the sales...

A/C dead, please help with forscan

From the refrigerant pressure values, I would say it's very low. I went through an A/C repair a year ago that turned out to be a leak in the evaporator. I forget the exact pressure values, but when the A/C is at rest, both are somewhere around 300-400 PSI. When running, the high side is over...

Tips for Maximizing Range on My Ford Focus Electric?

I don't believe that is saving energy and may be using more. Coasting in neutral cancels all regen and should you start pressing the brake pedal, the braking will be 100% friction until you put it back in gear. Coasting in gear will regenerate energy back to the battery. Sure, you may not start...

    Hi new owner.

Another effect I've noticed is that if you start off on a fairly warm to hot day not using the A/C and then decide to turn it on, say for highway driving, that the reduction in range is less than expected. I've turned on the A/C in this circumstance and only seen about a 10-15 km reduction in...

FordPass 5.0 & "Climate On Until..."?

They replaced it with a bar that appears that says "Add time to climate" with a button labelled "Extend". I tried it the other day, not sure if I was going to see the "extended" time or not (beyond 15 minutes) but it turned out someone delayed me long enough and the car was still on! 😃 I do...

    Setting "Home" Value Charge Schedule

I'm not sure if this is possible now, but in case someone knows a secret, I'm asking... After 6.5 years of having my FFE, though two of them without value charging because of the TCU software bug that was finally fixed in March, I only recently discovered my FFE has two value charging...

FordPass 5.0 & "Climate On Until..."?

Before the last update, it just said how many minutes remain, which I feel is more useful than the absolute time. I have noticed a number of false "started" status both before and after this update. Before the update, I noticed a button that said "+15" for my wife's Lightning that allows you to...

No cooling - fan races while charging

When a vehicle charges, the battery will be warmed up above ambient temperature (unless it's cold and it may need to be warmed, at least initially, to charge optimally). Additionally, the AC charger has to dissipate heat as it changes AC to DC. Just the rectifier will dissipate about 45 watts...

    Free adapter?

I don't know how much good this will do, but Jim Farley is up for re-election to Ford's Board of Directors on May 8. Since my retirement fund holds Ford shares, I get a vote and I'll cast mine with a 'NO' to Jim's re-election.
