Have to go with Anti_Climax and what I have seen in photos and videos. Different "density" (chemistry, arrangement?) would mean the BMS would have to be programmed to behave differently for different cells. Don't know if any BMS can do that.

I vote 12V battery needs attention. If that goes below 12V, strange things happen.
