    Woes of winter range

I'll change it to 85F and see what that does to Wh/mi for the morning part of the commute. Using the supplied L1 EVSE right now -- I have a Clipper Creek L2 EVSE that is not yet installed (no space in current breaker panel; looking at using local utility's "special EV plan" which would install...

    Woes of winter range

20k miles, and commute speed is 40-50. No interstates. I have seen low 200s Wh/mi on the commute in the summertime. Capacity loss due to cold temps + too many constant kW for cabin heating = less than half the summertime range. Something else that bugs me -- the use of a traditional liquid...

    Woes of winter range

Have had my FFE for just over 2 years now. Yesterday was pretty cold here in the Midwest -- was barely above zero F in the morning, around 15 in the afternoon and then actually warmed up a bit to 20 in the late evening. Car was in the garage, fully charged and preconditioned to either 65 or 72...

    Extended Test Drive

I think your best bet would be to take that information to the dealer -- they would be more inclined to go along with it, if the sales guy there could spin it to his manager as "potentially stealing a sale away from the BMW dealer"

    Stop Safely Now Warning

Word back from the dealership is that they are replacing some HV cabling running between the front/rear, along with a bracket to hold the cables I guess. Hopefully have my car back by the end of the week. Will post details of work done when I get the paperwork in hand.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

Ugh -- just joined the SSN club after 16 months and 13k miles on my 2013 FFE. Happened twice within 3 days this week. Both times was able to pull over, turn car off, and within 30 seconds or so turn the car back on where the SSN message didn't pop up, and then continue on my way. One thing I...

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

Yep, thanks for adding the link.

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

FYI, EVSEUpgrade is running a special -- new 120/240V 6-25A adjustable-current EVSE with an L6-30R plug for $649. Much more attractive than the base $1k price IMO.

FFE at 2014 Refuel Track Day

Saw your FFE out on the track -- was wondering if the driver would post here. Congrats! How did that under-steer treat you through those turns? Also echoing others questions -- was there any power-limiting that was either shown on the dash or that you felt as you went around the track? I...

Delay between regen and forward torque

After driving a few months now, I've found that there's a noticeable delay when the FFE switches between applying forward and reverse torque, i.e. accelerating forward vs. using regen to slow down (and vice versa -- using regen then wanting to quickly accelerate). I had noticed earlier that...

    Cabin preconditioning not working

I also noticed this issue recently as I'm still L1 charging at home -- would expect the car to be warmer than the garage but it's still cool inside the car. This morning I used the keyfob (could also use MyFordMobile website/app) to "remote start" the car 10 minutes before I plan to leave, and...

Safety tips for new drivers for FFE

Here's one: you go to back out of a parking space in your shiny new EV, still enamored with its silence and simplicity. Then you wonder why the car is moving so slow even though you're hitting the "go" pedal. Finally you realize it's just rolling/coasting backwards due to a slight decline in...

    Front License Plate Bracket

Searched for "ford bumper plugs" and found this -- is this what you were using before the permanent fix? https://www.bumperplugs.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_11_78&product_id=78

    Improvements to the climate control.

I had seen earlier references to the resistive heater actually heating an oil or coolant fluid, thanks. What's your source of info for these details on the heat/coolant circuits?
