Update on my situation - nothing, nodda. Last week the service manager said he would give me an update on Monday. Waited until Tuesday, called late morning, left msg, called back in the afternoon, spoke to an operator who said she would get me someone, sat on hold for 10 min and then got dumped in someone else's voice mail. Left a msg anyway....but still no updates. Since they only have one "hybrid" technician my guess is my car has gone to the back of the line and they are are just ignoring it.
Guess that makes my car a NFOR (Not Fixed OR Repaired)

Well, my car will not be fixed or repaired. Wholesaled or crushed is my guess. I get paid off today. Kudos to the dealership for doing the right thing when Ford would not. Im out a few bucks but a lawyer would not be free either. Still getting a decent check. Ill continue to monitor and post occasionally. Its funny. When I bought this car, one of the guys at the dealership jokingly said "Focus electric? Make sure you buy the warranty." Well it turns out that the warranty was of no use. A warranty is only good if they can fix your car. LOL.

Maybe it's going back to Ford to be disassembled and diagnosed for edification purposes. We can hope.

I dont think its going back to ford. Its property of the dealer now. Either it will get wholesaled out or perhaps they will keep it as a dealer car and wait for the battery to go bad and have it replaced by ford. My guess is its going to the middle east. LOL.

wow carbuff! Glad the dealer stepped up and did the right thing. But still troubling they couldn't fix the car and make it right.
Got a msg from the service manager on my car today. Sounds like they are going through the wiring harness looking for possible bad connections. Some how I'm not encouraged.

Well, at least they are doing something and not relying on Ford tech support to figure it out from 1000 miles away. If they come up with a broken or shorted wire, at least youll have evidence of something wrong. My guess is...........new battery!!!!!!!! LOL.TexaCali wrote:wow carbuff! New Battery would be awesome! Oh please let the bad connection be internal to the battery......
Meanwhile I wait....and drive the rental base model Fiesta they gave me. Man that thing is a tiny tin box.
So Carbuff, are you going to get another electric car? If so which one? There are a lot of interesting cars on the horizon but not a lot to pick from in current offerings. Seems like you can pick from expensive, ugly, and low range. And many of the offerings are "compliance cars" (like the FFE) where support may be lacking.

Well, unless something falls in my lap I will be without an ev. New is just not practical for me. I cant justify the payment for the limited driving that I do. But, on the horizon, my wifes car will be paid up soon and that will free up $350 a month for the next new car. Its my turn. LOL. Its been my turn for the last 3 cars. She always gets the new one. LOL. Im kinda gun shy about buying a used ev now that Ive seen how expensive they can be to fix. I also may be inheriting my moms Fusion as she might not be driving any more. So, who knows. Yep hear ya on the cost.
And speaking of cost.....I heard back from the dealer today on my car. Looks like part of the wiring harness that goes from the charging port to the battery is bad and has to be replaced. Ford is claiming this is not under warranty and the dealer wants $1300 for parts and labor. The car is 4 years and 3 months old, 36k miles. I've never had a wiring harness go bad in a car, and this isn't a wear item or an abuse issue, so clearly this was a defective part from Ford. The battery and electric drive system are 100k mile warranty, but somehow they claim this isn't part of that system. Any advice on how to fight this? Other than raise a stink and argue I'm not sure what options I have. $1300 ain't enough to make hiring an attorney worthwhile, hence Ford's willingness to pull this crap.
