Re: A/c cuts put

This sounds like what was happening on my car when my cooling problem started. When the battery hits a certain temp it will dedicate the entire cooling capacity of the AC compressor to the chiller block for the battery coolant loop. My battery could get so hot the car would force a stop (stop now sa...

Re: Powertrain Fault

The most common setup seems to be something like an OBDLink MX or similar, plugged into the lower OBD port, and queried with ForScan on a laptop or mobile phone. The Focus uses both high speed and medium speed CAN busses and you'll want a reader that can use both. I use the above reader and an Andro...

Re: Powertrain Fault

I have a feeling the power train fault will clear when the 12V is disconnected. Pretty sure you need to pull the DTCs from the OBD port, never seen any verbose reading of fault codes in the dash screens.

Re: Battery Replacement

They were doing the larger ones for a while and then started doing the smaller ones again. But with it being discontinued, who knows what they're doing now. Fingers crossed you got an upgrade.

Re: New to me 2017 FFE getting ~70 miles per charge

Seems most folks don't want to give them up so the ones most likely to end up on the market are the ones that have been worn out - and it doesn't help that so few were ever made. Unless it's a problem that makes a vehicle unsafe to drive, it's almost certainly going to be sold as-is.

Re: New to me 2017 FFE getting ~70 miles per charge

Oh, and if you want to run it to zero without risking getting stranded, you can drive it until it's low and then park and run the heater with the windows down to take it the rest of the way to zero. At 0%/Miles you'll get a stop now message and 1kWh below that it will cut the contactors whether you ...

Re: New to me 2017 FFE getting ~70 miles per charge

In the mobile version, there's a PID under BECM named BAT_TO_EMPTY_ESTIM. This is the kWh the car has derived as available between a full charge and empty on the SoC gauge (down to watt hour precision). I don't believe it includes the 1kWh reserve. For my 2018 battery, it reads just over 27kWh. For ...

That was the power shown going from 100% down to 0%, or was it down to 10% (getting the .9 you used)?

I'd be very interested to see what Forscan sees on that car.

Re: Numerous Issues - HELP!

76 miles is the rating on a brand new battery with around 19.5kWh usable capacity (18.5kWh to empty and a 1kWh reserve). They degrade over time - how quickly depends on a lot of factors. I got a 2012 when it was 4-5 years old and it had lost around 3.5kWh. I'm pretty sure the previous owner was a le...
