I have never noticed a noise so far. I almost wish it did. I leave it open way too much and then feel stupid when I get out of the car.
Oh man same here...

Re: 1 Year In, thoughts on my FFE

Maintenance: None other than washer fluid and pumping up the tires. I am taking it in for it's first servicing soon. I always hated taking in my ICE vehicle so often. Why? There's nothing to do. Cost: I bought it. I know leasing is better long term but I like to own. Cost after state rebate ($2500)...

Re: Only 40 miles on the charge indicator

Take a look at the consumption chart in the Energy menu. If you see climate control sucking down a ton of juice, that's the heater. Turn the HVAC system totally off and see if the guess o' meter goes up. Biggest non-propulsion draw in these cars is the heater, and unwitting drivers will use the auto...

Re: Stop Safely Now Warning

After having the recall work done, wiring harness replaced and connectors repaired (by shipping the battery off for that work) -- I had a SSN message yesterday. Luckily, it was in my neighborhood and I was able to stop safely....now. :) Anyhow, turning off the car, opening the door and then restarti...

Re: finding an FFE to test drive?

I second the recommendation to go drive a Focus Titanium. In my assessment, the only appreciable difference between them is that the ICE Focus is louder (engine noise) and has a different cluster package (due to the specialized electric screens). Otherwise, if you like the Titanium, you'll love the ...

Re: Newbie to EV

For the money, you can't beat a used Prius if you need to make a longer trip.

For comfort on those long trips, I would pick up a used Hyundai Genesis V6.

For max versatility, small pickup truck. My personal favorite is the non-turbo diesel mid-80's Toyota Hilux longbed. :)

Re: Newbie to EV

90K miles, assuming good tires and no major reconditioning would get you no more than $12.5t in the southeast, because that car will do around 13.5 or so at auction, maybe 14 -- then go on a local lot or a BHPH for 17.9. SUV's are doing well, so the buying dealer might put it out themselves at $18k ...

Re: Newbie to EV

Take it to Carmax. Seriously. If they come in lower than the dealer, then you're not going to do much better than the dealer offer. If they come in higher, you know that dealer offer was junk. However, if you come to me wanting one of my cars (FFE), and its not a car you can get anywhere else, I'm g...

Re: Newbie to EV

You flat earth guys -- so jealous of that range! I'm in Atlanta, where everything is a hill -- much like the hill country around Austin (native Texan here, btw!). My actual range here in the rolling Appalachians is about 60-64 miles best case. The AC robs about 6-8 miles from that (running on manual...
