Ford promising a milestone year

The North American International Auto Show kicked off in Detroit this week, and Ford was there in full force. With a large display and an executive loaded lineup, Ford was making large promises for the coming year.

CEO Alan Mulally said that Ford will have the most fuel-efficient lineup in the company’s history. Ford unveiled the Ford Fusion Energi Plug-in Hybrid at the show and Ford plans to have it on sale later this year. The Ford Fusion will also be available in a non-plug-in hybrid version that is expected to get an EPA rating of 47 MPG in city driving and 44 MPG on the highway.

That brings Ford’s electric vehicle family to 3 – the Ford Focus Electric, Ford C-max Energi, and Ford Fusion Energi. Ford also has a few hybrid vehicles planned for the future.

Ford is also promising to bring 12,000 jobs back to the US by 2015. They plan to do this by returning jobs from overseas production back to the US from China, Japan and Mexico.
