Raj Nair, who will become Ford’s group vice president of global product development on April 1, is excited about Ford’s direction towards green technologies. Nair says that the EcoBoost technology and the electrification strategy in the U.S. and the deisel strategy in Europe is a solid bet for investing in mainstream offerings.

In the same conversation Nair said that natural gas offerings aren’t a priority for Ford since the transportation and distribution networks aren’t in place yet.

The Ford Focus Electric is obviously a key part to the green vehicle strategy Ford is using, Recently, the Ford Focus Electric was certified by the Environmental Protection Agency and was rated at 105MPGe.
