Ford has released an iPhone App (and Android Phone app – no mention at all about availability on Windows phones) to help Ford Focus Electric owners stay in the loop about their car’s charge status. The app lets Focus Electric drivers use MapQuest to plan the most efficient route to a destination, and it helps them find an electric vehicle charging station when they get to their destination.

The MyFord Mobile App uses an AT&T wireless module that allows drivers log in to check the vehicle’s state of charge. Another feature of the app developed by Microsoft works to make sure the majority of the Ford Focus Electric’s battery pack is charged when utility rates are the cheapest. The app will also send a text message to remind the driver if the car isn’t plugged in.
