First Ford Focus Electric delivered to retail customer

Whit's Ford Focus Electric 5Unlike Nissan with the Leaf, and Chevy with the Volt, who had a large press events when the first vehicles were delivered, Ford has started delivering the Ford Focus Electric and no one even knows about it – except that members of the Ford Focus Electric Forum are so excited they can’t help but share the news!

This past weekend, on May 26th, forum member Whit (whitgallman) drove to pick up a Ford Focus Electric – and as far as we know, this is the first delivery of 2012 a Ford Focus Electric to a retail customer!

Whit lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, but purchased the Ford Focus Electric through Hassett Ford in Wantagh New York since Ford was limiting the initial release of the Ford Focus Electric to California and New York. The order was first placed on February 23rd 2012 for the Ford Focus Electric.

Whit drove the 650 miles to receive the Ford Focus Electric from the dealership in New York and to set up a U-haul freight shipment to ship the Ford Focus Electric back to it’s final location in North Carolina. From the looks of the photos, it would appear that the Ford Focus Electric has already received some publicity at a car show as well as a message written on the rear window that reads ‘Out of Gas & Loving it!’ Right next to the message is the day permit for the Ford Focus Electric’s car insurance.

Surprisingly, Ford did not have a big release party and press event like Nissan did with the Leaf and Chevy did with the Volt when they were released back in late 2010. We can expect more deliveries to take place this week, and there are other members of the My Focus Electric Forum that have heard they will be getting their Ford Focus Electric vehicles in the near future.
