2012 Ford Focus Electric Vehicle Will Hit 19 Different Cities in the U.S.

A long time ago, when half of the world didn’t even imagine the existence of a motor-powered vehicle for roads, it was Ford who made cars possible for every American to buy. To date, Ford has been able to live up to that objective. As with most of their cars, the Ford Focus is intent on being a car every American can have – a car every American would love to have. As the company sets foot into the electric vehicle arena, their very first electric vehicle, the 2012 Ford Focus electric, carries on the same promise.

So, as Ford announced, the Ford Focus Electric Vehicle will be launched by the end of 2011. Nineteen major areas which are chosen to see the very first glimpse of the 2012 Ford Focus electric vehicle on the streets include the following.

  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Austin, Texas
  • Houston, Texas
  • Boston, Massachusetts
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Los Angeles, California
  • New York, New York
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • Tucson, Arizona
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
  • Richmond, Vancouver
  • San Francisco, California
  • San Diego, California
  • Seattle, Wash.
  • Washington,D.C

The company has stated that these regions were chosen according to hybrid and EV purchase trends and availability of charging stations. However, Ford has made it clear that this is just a pilot program to calculate the general response. The company further aims to spread awareness and sell the Ford Focus Electric vehicle in areas where the trend is lower or where the local government hasn’t been very serious about alternate-fuel cars.

Nineteen initial stations to launch an Electric Vehicle is still a good start. There is a lot of hope that the success of the Ford Focus EV in these areas will help their neighboring regions get acquainted with electric vehicles. Ford also plans to include areas of Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami and Minneapolis on their list as well. Currently, Ford is busy in a 14-city tour promoting the 2012 Ford Focus electric and EV’s in general.
