Look at the grill in the pic then compare it to the FFE in the top banner.

    BMW i3

I am very interested in the i3. If BMW can release it at a mid $30k or possibly @ $40k I will seriously consider it once my Leaf's lease is up. Here's the main page on BMW. Also pics of the inside. http://www.bmw-i.com/en_ww/bmw-i3/ FYI: The sports car is the i8 in those pics is a hybrid -...

Nissan Leaf will be available across the USA, Great Britain

I live in Colorado and I was going to opt out of the Leaf but after the generic close-lipped statements from Ford I basically said, "Screw you Ford, I'm getting a Leaf" Though I would like a FFE I'm not will to wait 2-3 months longer. If Ford can get FFEs out here before the end of January...

Can't wait for the Ford Focus Electric

The 'Ford Electric Tour' does not have a FFE on display; only a normal Focus with a fake charge port. http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2011/09/ford_motor_co_brings_dont_touc.html

    different grille?

Wow the 2009 grille looks hideous! FYI That's probably not an EV just a normal '09 Focus

    Electric Car Tax Credit troubles

I wish the fed and state would stop giving tax reductions. They're pointless for the people who this is suppose to spur into buying these cars. Most middle income families do not owe enough taxes to get the full reduction. It's a travesty. I really wish these reductions would turn into a cash...

Ford (don't ask don't touch) Focus EV

Sooo glad I still have my Leaf reserve. I was going to cancel it in hopes of getting a FFE but this is BS on Ford's part.

Can you set the current draw when charging?

You'll want to return this charger if you wanted to get a 6.6 kwh (240 volt / 32amp) charing unit. The SPX unit is for a max of 5.5 kwh charging. The NEMA 6-30R recepticle is CAPPED at 30 amps. The actual draw will be 24 amps while charging. So if your aim is a 25-28 amp drawn then you're good.

    Ford Evos Concept

I they release this as an EV with a small premium over the FFE this'll be my next car after the FFE

Ford, SunPower want you to charge that electric vehicle with

Solar panels on a car will not be able to charge the main driving battery. Assuming 3.5 miles / kwh (high estimate), a car with the hood and top covered in solar cells, and a car of the size, shape, weights of the FFE, it would take over 6 hours to charge the main driving battery enough to go 1...

Fuel Efficiency standards could hurt the Ford Focus Electric

It's all about the price of fuel, not fuel efficiency. Gas prices will go back up. Unlike the oil embargo 35 years ago where the US and Europe were the only major consumer of oil, China and India now rival the US's consumption of oil - there's just not enough refined oil to go around anymore. As...

Where does your electricity come from?

Then you already know where your power comes from? rsmith1 is just trying to be helpful and I'm glad he posted the link. I am sad that i don't get any energy from nuclear, it does make me more inclined to by an omni-directional wind turbine in the near future and possibly solar in a few years -...

    Battery Technology

I'll add this here as well: I wonder if Ford had to decrease the battery by 1 kwh to support the added size of the liquid heater/cooler. I remember reading Nissan left the water cooler/heater out of the Leaf because it would take up too much space in the cabin.

    Battery Technology

Doh looks like I got confused with the hp/kw.... what i get for not finding the link  I will echo klaus's question about how it might effect distance. My guess is if you floor it you'll get more torque/faster 0-60 than the Leaf but you'll burn charge faster than flooring the leaf would...

    Battery Technology

For the current generation there is only a limited number of Lithium-ion batteries to choose from LiCoO2 LiMn2O4 LiNiO2 LiFePO4 Li2FePO4F LiCo1/3Ni1/3Mn1/3O2 Li(LiaNixMnyCoz)O2 IIRC the Leaf uses LiFePO4 and I wouldn't be too suprised if Ford went the same route As for capacity: 23 mwhr...

    Single Speed Transmission

I'm going to assume that it works like the Prius - except reverse which'll probably be different -Drive - One speed transmission -Low - Same gear set but when your foot is off the A peddle your regenerate evergy faster than when in drive. This is great when going down hill: less wear on your...
