Fuel Factor - Are EVs really worth it?

Why mention the high cost of the Leaf and not the Volt, which is almost 10k more? And no, just on cost alone one would not buy an EV...or any new car for that matter. But I think there is more in the decision to purchase an EV than just cost.

    Alan Mulally on Ford's Future

That would be great...keeping my figures crossed while at the same time trying to keep expectations low.

    Happy Earth Day!

This would be a great day for Ford to come out with price and other details, being Earth day AND the start of the NYC auto show.

Where did they get the price for the Volt? Unless I totally missed something it should be listed at 41k+

Lack of news for the Ford Focus EV

I recently went to the twin cities autoshow hoping to talk electric with Ford and other car makers. I was able to see the Volt, but no touching!, but was about to climb all over the Leaf and the MiEV (pre-orders start at the end of the month for late 2012 delivery). However Ford had zero...

Snow, cold weather no problem for the Ford Focus Electric

Block heaters used to be much more common, but we do not see them much anymore. I'm not an expert, but I think fuel injection and lighter weight oil greatly diminishes the need. Even when these were more common I don't think many businesses had outlets as cold starts were more an issue when...

Snow, cold weather no problem for the Ford Focus Electric

The performance of the actively managed temperature batteries (Focus, Volt) vs. the non-managed batteries (Leaf) will be an interesting one. To me the key questions will be How much cost does this add to the vehicle and does it increase performance enough to justify this cost. So when the...

Ford Suppliers Add 5500 Jobs to Support Launch of Ford Focus

To clarify...this article is regarding the new Ford Focus, but not the Focus EV...a quick scan reveals to EV component or batteries.

Nissan Unable to Meet Leaf Demand; Delays to Continue

I am concerned the Focus will not be ready this calender year. We are coming up on March and there is some key information regarding the Focus that is not yet available...first and foremost the price. I also think the Leaf's delays have been largely exaggerated as a result of an overly...

Lack of news for the Ford Focus EV

Agreed there is a huge lack of news. At this point I will be very pleasantly surprised if anyone is driving one by the end of the year. The Facebook page is hinting at the ability to sign up (reserve) in the next few months...I would hope they have a pricetag before they ask for reservations.

Better Place - the Electric-Car Market Is Driving Away from

I never bought into this concept in the first place. I think a lot of people when they first heard this though it sounded like a great idea, anyone who had any significant understand on battery packs and how they are integrated into an electric car would think it would be a good idea to be...

Full EVs not so green after all??

This dead horse I guess needs to be beat on just a bit more I guess. The following is an extensive collection of studies that shows that BEV's powered by the US grid result in significantly less pollution than ICE cars. http://images.pluginamerica.org/EmissionsSummary.pdf The other item...
