It does not turn on, there is no sign of life.

That's what I had to do. Car completely dead, Ford Roadside said they wouldn't jump it, but tow it up to 35 miles. Replaced the LVB and car was good as "new".

    RED Battery in MFM

I was getting the red (still do occasionally, refresh clears it) when Ford of Escondido was replacing the auxiliary heating assembly. Now just to get them to repair the dings and scrapes they caused...

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Ford has had the car for over five weeks. Finally back to CarMax and they replaced the charge ring, only to discover that it was the module that was out. Might be covered under warranty, but CarMax is taking care of it. Just sucks since I drove the car for five weeks, and they have had it for...

Ford Focus EV faulty port charger lightning?

Here I thought I was the only one who called them that, or it was a CA thing...

Ford Focus EV faulty port charger lightning?

I lost a quadrant on the charge ring, Ford specifically said that it's like the fuel gauge and only covered by the 36mo bumper to bumper. Bought a 2012 used, so they denied the claim. I was within the 30 days from Carmax, so they are covering it. Now the battery heater cooler pump that went...

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Would have been nice, but mine was bought used 2012 FFE, outside the bumper to bumper :(

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Jeffand- I actually found a FFE from a front end crash test on CL and contacted the "owner". Charge port still there (may use for a J1772 extension...) but he said the ring was damaged. He's over an hour away, I'm going out that direction in a couple of weeks. Going to see if I can't get a hold...

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Was able to find the part number on ebay. Ford says no-go on the warranty. May look for a used one to play with- colored quadrants might be a cool mod...

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Car is in for recalls, asked about the charge ring. Was told they would look into it with a $125 diagnostic fee, which I understand. But how does one quadrant go out while the rest stay lit? I'll call Ford and see what they say.

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Straight from the warranty info online: • The following Focus Electric parts are covered during this extended coverage period: battery packs; high-voltage battery conditioning pump, hoses, valves; charger and charge cord. Note: Lithium-Ion Battery Gradual Capacity Loss The Lithium-ion battery...

    Chargin Ring lost a quadrant

Purchased a 2012 FFE from Carmax, the upper right quadrant on the charging ring has never lit up. Has anyone replaced the ring by themselves? Standard warranty is over, but would this be considered part of the battery and thus still under warranty? Ran the car to about 15% SOC and when I...

Stupid EV Tricks: Drive up a Mountain...

Made the run today. I did make a stop at Harrah's. Good thing. Made it to the observatory with 7 miles on the GOM after a 5.71 kW charge. Started again at the top with th 7 miles and warnings on the dash to return home. Here's after a one hour blink charge again at Pala Casino...

    Focus Electric Spotting Thread

Saw a Blue Candy two weeks ago in Oceanside, CA. Another black FFE driving up the street past my house three days after getting mine from Carmax.

Stupid EV Tricks: Drive up a Mountain...

From my house to the Palomar Observatory in San Diego County is 46.7 miles the short way with almost 7000' of elevation gain. Accounting for my wife and myself using the numbers above, it looks like I would make the top with 0%!! Looks like I'll have to make a stop at one of the casinos...

Buying used 2012 FFE ?s about convenience cord

Our wire coiler ran on an L6-30 plug. May have to purchase some SJO cord and make an extension for the Leviton charger I plan to buy. Dedicated circuit so I don't have to worry about shutting down our server when my car trips a breaker because someone has a small heater on the same circuit.

Buying used 2012 FFE ?s about convenience cord

WattsUp- thanks for the tip. I work at an electrical wholesale distributor. May be able to convince the boss to add a circuit. There's always the Ford dealer a couple of miles away if I need a top off. Learning about my hopefully new car has given me the drive to learn about EVSE and hopefully...

Buying used 2012 FFE ?s about convenience cord

My original plan was to just use the L1 cord that comes with the car. I have access to cheap electrical parts due to my job. About $70 to add a 240v 50a circuit that I'll run at 30a for the time being and order a Leviton EVBL2-P18 just inside my garage. My total cost will be south of $500 and...

Buying used 2012 FFE ?s about convenience cord

I work at an Electrical wholesale distributor. Considering the Evr-green mini from Leviton for the time being. Portable to some extent. I'll look into another they have as well. I did see a Voltec/Chevy Volt charger on craigslist for $320. I assume that it would work, but I'd rather not screw up...

Buying used 2012 FFE ?s about convenience cord

michael, Thanks for the response. I was looking into that charger as an option to spending the $$ for a Level 2. I was hoping that since the link from ford.com lead to AV's spec sheets that my focus would include the adaptor. I'll look at the spec's in the owner's material when I pick up the...
