Impressions after 2 weeks of ownership

Hmmm, another question arises. What is the best suggestion for tire pressure from forum members?

Impressions after 2 weeks of ownership

I've been looking at Jamie's blog for a few days. A veritable wealth of information for the new FFE owner. Thanks, Jamie! http://jamiegeek.myevblog.com/ I'm up to 88 mile range after charging. My scores have been pretty good and I'm aiming for 100 at some point. Not risking the trip to the...

Impressions after 2 weeks of ownership

Whatever the explanation is, I was only trying to convey my satisfaction that I was seeing immediate improvement from adjusting my driving style, like getting from zero to 8 butterflies (I finished the day with 6). It's finally hitting me that I will not be stopping for gas anytime soon. Now I...

Impressions after 2 weeks of ownership

Pics to follow. In garage right now charging. First impressions: *pickup = wow *brakes = wow *is there anything better than watching miles remaining go from 47 to 48? *8 butterflies look very pretty *80% power returned, then 91% power returned, then 100% power returned = pretty awesome...

What comes with the new car?

Come to think of it, I always get better mileage in the summer with the Camry hybrid. About 34 mpg as opposed to 28 in the winter to account for my 32 mpg average. I've always been under the impression that A/C uses more power but apparently, that's not the case.

What comes with the new car?

I thought I read some posts that as soon as you put on A/C, it lops ten miles off your range. Maybe I read wrong, dunno. Am using a dash cam. I suspect that uses next to nothing. I also have a massaging seat for my damn bad back but I may be able to do without that. With a 19 mile avg...

What comes with the new car?

If the tint reduces interior heat, one would think Ford would opt for it on the basis that less A/C would be used and thereby not affect range as much. Ahhhh well...I was hoping...and am still hopeful the pictures do not lie. If they're not tinted, I intend to have mine tinted to whatever...

What comes with the new car?

Hints on tints? If my FFE does not come with tint (so why does it show in their website pics?), can anyone suggest the best way to tint? I have no experience with this. From what I've seen in web searches and YouTube videos, a tint film is applied, which doesn't look like a great solution...

What comes with the new car?

I'm wondering about tinted glass. All the FFEs I've seen in pics or videos seem to show tinted windows but I've only found a couple of references that do not state factory tint with any certainty. The feature does not appear in any window stickers I've seen for 2015 but I've seen descriptions...

    Built in navigation sucks?

It's the identical nav that we use in my wife's Ford Escape, with which we have had plenty of experience. It's a klunky system, could probably have been designed to be lots more user friendly. We stuck with it, battled the early frustrations and now have zero problems. Once you know the...

    Which L2 and why?

Initially, I was going to get the Siemans. I just thought it fit the bill, and I could get an extra bracket to mount outside the garage as well as inside. And then I decided to just trickle charge, since I avg. roughly 19 miles per day. There would be ample time to charge even at 110v. I...

Impressions after 2 weeks of ownership

Keith - Thanks for your two-week report! My FFE was scheduled to be built two days ago, so I'm in the hanging-by-my-thumbs-excited-and-waiting stage. The Turbocord arrived on Saturday and my neighbor Russ will be putting in my 220 line in a day or two, so I'm ready to go. Like so many...

    Been following, about to purchase!

Thanks for the tax info. It turns out that NY has a credit but it applies to "trade or business." So, I would have to show my FFE is used for business to take advantage. Anyone interested should look at http://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/current_forms/ct/ct637i.pdf.

    Been following, about to purchase!

I'm so jealous. My FFE is scheduled to be built Monday. And then the long long wait for transportation begins. In the meantime, my Turbocord was delivered today. The 220 line goes in this week. I changed my mind three times on a charger. First, I was going to get the Siemans. Then I was...

    Been following, about to purchase!

My FFE is scheduled to be built on Monday. I looked two days ago, still no window sticker. I'd love to be able to track the auto on CSX. If you can get a hold of the number, please let us know. Re "locked in" prices etc., my dealer claims I will have the benefit of any better pricing until...

    16 Gauge okay?

I don't mean leaving the FFE hooked up 24/7, just talking about having the charging cord hooked up to an outlet 24/7. I plan on removing the cord from the car when topped off but due to its position in the garage, it would be far easier for me to leave the cord plugged into the 110 v outlet.

    16 Gauge okay?

Thanks, replies much appreciated. The cord that comes with the FFE might be long enough. It'll be close for sure. Is there a problem leaving the cord plugged into an outlet 24/7??? Obviously, it won't be charging all the time, probably no more than 5-6 hours actually.

    16 Gauge okay?

Thanks for the feedback. The 18 feet for the Ford cord may work but I'm going to get a 12 gauge 25 foot just in case. It can't hurt to have it around anyway. I have three outlets in the garage but the closest one is on the wrong side, which means I would have to run the Ford cord resting on...

    16 Gauge okay?

20 amps equates to 12 gauge from what I can see. Okay, thanks for the feedback. I'll try to find a 12 gauge.

    16 Gauge okay?

Still 11 days to go before my FFE is built, but I've finally decided to stick with the trickle charger for now. 7k miles per year means an average of 19 per day and level 2 would be an expensive luxury at this point. Eventually, I'll have a 220 line put in and would probably opt for something...
