Anyone have a jerk and clunk when slowing down rapidly on hills?

Since we got it new in 2014 we have had this clunk and jerk when slowing down quickly on a hill. It happens more often if there is weight in the back. This year our front wheel bearings needed replacement. After they were replaced the car was SO QUIET! Even more than brand new. And now a few...

Any advice. Lost 30%+ range and Dealer said no dice

2014. 60K miles. Garaged in cool valley in Hawaii. Well cared for. But now with 30% range loss I can't make trips to the west side of Oahu anymore. Dealer said no warranty for range reductions but wants to charge me $500 to balance my pack. How did guys here get battery swaps?

Insurance Cancelled - Reason: unacceptable vehicle!!

Not true. Have been driving electric since a 2012 iMiev and now a 2014 FFE. Both cars were insured no problem with Geico. I'm in Hawaii. In between I switched to State Farm (bad move) and then moved back to Geico (good move). My State Farm agent convinced me to move and they were going to jack...

Possible to use a spare tire jack to change a tire?

Thanks will look more closely later. I peeked and it seemed like there wasn't a spot near the back to slot in a spare tire jack. Gave up. Going to have it towed to get my flat changed.

You may also get frustrated when you get a flat tire :-(

That makes me feel a little better. I did run over a chunk of metal. Hoping another Ford dealer on island will call me back and say they have the tires in stock. Wish we had that tire company here in Hawaii.

You may also get frustrated when you get a flat tire :-(

Ok got my first flat. Just a warning to others who may experience similar issues: Called five or six places including the Ford dealer, Costco & Firestone. NO ONE has this tire in stock or an equivalent LRR tire. Finally found a tire shop that had one that would work. $280 installed for one...

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

Did you buy an EcoHitch for your 2014 FFE? If so would love to hear if it fits. I want to buy one but the site says only up to 2013 and they also list other Fords that include 2015 years. Thanks!

Seems that iOS 9.1 broke text messaging with SYNC

How do you turn off automatically starting iTunes whenever I connect to the car? I think that is a really dumb feature. Even worse, how do I set the default to use the car's mic and speaker? When I get or sometimes make a call, even if I am connected to the car the default is the iphone and I...

    MyFordMobile Issues

I see the update on the iPhone version. The Android version is really buggy. It grays out features that work on the iPhone version.

    New FFE buyer with questions

They would not offer them if they always lost money. So on average the average purchaser must lose money on these warranties. I see this as insurance. Pay $1,000 to possibly save $5,000+ in the future should more than a couple repairs pop up over 8 years of ownership. Medical insurance like...

    New FFE buyer with questions

Good question. I recommend the coverage for peace of mind. I won't worry for 8 years if something goes wrong with the car. There are many different types of problems that could easily cost more than $1,190. My last gar car, a Subaru Forrester, every problem before we sold it seemed to average...

    New FFE buyer with questions

I bought the Premium care for 8 years 125K miles with $200 deductible for $1190 from the Flood Ford. Super easy to buy online and I got it added to my car's VIN pretty quickly. Hope to never use it. Bought this coverage on 6/8/2015 when the car was about 8 month s old. I'd recommend the coverage.

Today I hit the 12V battery drain corner case

eBay has a bunch of vendors selling 12v charger/meters. Very good to buy one and keep handy. Good for charging devices from the backset via th e12V outlet and for checking on 12V level. I use an inverter on our car when we camp to pull power so I always keep an eye on the voltage. Never had a...

Third in 3 year resale value behind RAV and Tesla

But near the bottom for one year retention. Not that many three year old EV models out there.

Do both USB ports have the same current output?

You could add a 12V USB charger to kick it up to 2 amps http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rayovac-PS70-Portable-Power-2-Amp-Dual-Universal-USB-12V-Car-Charger-car-to-usb-/321770040780?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aeafd2dcc

Fun fact from history - Hawaii's first car ever was an EV

Fascinating article from 1899 that talked about Hawaii's first car ever which happened to be an EV. http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83025121/1899-10-10/ed-1/seq-4/ It notes the U.S. favored electricity to power cars.

Illinois suspends (cancels) EV rebate program

Was it first come first served? We had an EV credit in Hawaii that ended really quickly. I think it was for $2,500 or so. We still get some pretty cool benefits including free parking downtown which easily costs $300 a month...

    Braking problems??

There are some roads where I can get it to skip 100% of the time. If you need to slow down to a stop on an incline with bumps before the stop, the car acts really weird. I've gotten used to it and just slow down a bit more to avoid the skips.

    Please increase the battery size

I hope not! My current range of 70 miles or so is perfect for Hawaii! There are only a couple of trips I can't make with this car. even with 70% capacity, this is a fantastic car for Hawaii. Maybe the used ones gets shipped here for our market :-)
