How about an upgrade to the navigation system?

The routing the FFE does is (in Atlanta) IMHO better than most. It has some weird preference for turning right, and turning at lights, but in general is better than my Model S (hybrid GarminNavigon/Google/Tesla routing). And probably better than the Model S was before 'traffic routing' messed...

    Kia Soul EV

But the Soul EV has scientist hamsters!

MFM regional averages seem about HALF what they should be

Yeah in the SE region you can't even hope to show in the consumption list because they are all 0 Wh/mi. I have always assumed these are dragging down the average.

    Ford full-size, high-performance, long-range vehicle?

I am really hoping for a Fusion/MKZ parallel offer. In 3-4 years when they update the platform.

    Ford full-size, high-performance, long-range vehicle?

"Can" and "Will" are very different things. They have the D3/Taurus platform that should be fine in size/weight requirements. They can make nice interiors as most Lincolns (except that weird touch bar on the radio) are very nice on the inside. The Focus EV drive is very very good. But I don't...

What's the lowest GOM miles you've arrived home with?

I've finished with 3 on the GOM in the FFE. Did 90 miles in a day, but some torrential rain on the last leg dropped me into the negative numbers until I was about 5 miles out. Ended up with 3 on the GOM. The Model S I have had in single digits a handful of times. Including 1 mile remaining on...

Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

It's actually mostly the other way around. The people used to S classes and 7 series are the ones whining. The Model S is very nice inside, so the people that bought up (like me ~4x more expensive than my previous car purchase) are very pleased with the interior, and the fit and finish, it is...

Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

Or just lease it. And turn it in when the battery starts to fall off a cliff, VWs problem. I'm with you on buying the thing, run do not walk away from that purchase.

Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

Not a problem. I work in manufacturing, in the USA. So I am also partial to USA manufactured products. EDIT: More partial to well manufactured products.

Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

The Nissan LEAF is made in the USA. Granted not a US company. But it is made with lots of other Nissans in Tennessee.

Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

I would look at leasing a eGolf, or purchasing your FFE off lease (or leasing/buying again depending on cost). On the Tesla forums there is a large component of people claiming they are selling their current RWD Model S and getting the new AWD version. So there might be a glut of used Model Ss...

Nissan Leaf vs Ford Focus Electric

Active cooling is only a small bit of the battery thermal management. The FFE is water cooled, and will circulate coolant through the pack, and return the coolant to ambient temperatures, through a radiator (even if not actively running the AC compressor). This is specially important when...

Ford breaks the 200 FFE mark for the first time...ever

So I will agree that I am not a normal car buyer. I do have a Model S and a FFE (that is it). I bought the Model S with the expectation that we still had a gasoline car to do any sort of driving that might exceed the Model S range. My wifes Civic decided to give up on life idleing at a red...

    Camping with the Focus Electric

That is a NEMA 14-15 or the far left (50A 240VAC). And a TT-30 (30A 120VAC) in the middle. They are standard RV plugs. If you look that matches the breakers in the panel as well.

Range anxiety and I haven't even bought it yet!

I live in Atlanta, so probably pretty similar climate to you in Alabama. In the summer I can drive 90 miles (with some speed restraint on the interstate 60-65) with some AC. I wouldn't worry about a 46 miles commute anytime but the coldest winter days. Even then driving a little slowly, or...

Ford Focus Energi #9 Top Best Looking EV

So basically 3rd best looking EV, behind the Model S, and the Fiat e500. Although seeing the i3 on the list directly below the Focus is a little disconcerting. All the other cars on that list (except the ELR) are pretty much only EV on some sort of technicality.

Ford breaks the 200 FFE mark for the first time...ever

Well other than Tesla (who is all in, starting in a higher profit margin market, and is already on their second generation EV) I think Ford, and BMW are really doing it right. Nissan bet big, and has marketed heavily. But they still are fighting battery issues. The LEAF is a lower quality...

Well WindowsPhone allows you to speak texts and it reads texts as well. Part of the Bluetooth functionality of WinPhone in general.

Car has started but won't go

Yeah it has a proximity key, like the FFE. But when you get close to the car the doors just unlock. They lock when you walk away with the key automatically as well. When you open the door it starts booting up, and when you press the brake pedal it turns 'on'. And is ready to shift and drive...

Nissan Leaf vs Ford Focus Electric

I've met about 3 LEAF owners that said similar things when I told them about the FFE. Really the only thing the LEAF has over the FFE IMO is folded down seats cargo room. I've 'sold' so many LEAFS, at least two Model Ss. I really want someone I know to get an FFE.
