    Car Charging Etiquette! :D

According to the EPA the Energi consumes about 20% more electricity per mile. Sorry I over-estimated at 30%.

    Car Charging Etiquette! :D

Most Plugshare sites are 208 or 240v. You can filter the view to eliminate the 120v outlets. We often make trips beyond the range of the FFE. You just need to have a backup for each place you plan to charge. Your assessment of owning a Tesla vs PHEV misses a few points. First, after driving...

    Car Charging Etiquette! :D

This mentality is fairly pervasive among PHEV drivers. I applaud your strong desire to avoid burning gas. I certainly can't blame you for using stations that are almost never used, and therefore not really needed by other EVs. In the probable future when a lot more all-electric vehicles will...

    Car Charging Etiquette! :D

Over on the Tesla forum this subject naturally comes up now and then. Tesla has a program where they offer a free charging station to qualified retail businesses and hotels if they will pay to install it. Since those chargers are usually 80A the question came up regarding how much new charging...

$6,000 Cash Back on 2014 Focus Electric

At that price I wonder how much Ford is losing on each sale.

    PERFORMANCE TUNING ANYONE?

It's your imagination. The owners' manual says the only difference is regen braking is stronger in L.

Just about ran the battery out yesterday, barely made it home

Oops. Sorry for posting the same info again! It's interesting having an 18 yr old around. We recently went away for the weekend and left him with the FFE. We told him he could only take it to work and back and ride his bike everywhere else. We charged it full and took the cable with us (so he...

Just about ran the battery out yesterday, barely made it home

My son (age 18) ran ours down to 0 miles and kept driving just shy of 2 miles before pulling into our driveway. He had some up-hill and some down, but overall he finished at a higher elevation. But don't count on this. Others have gone less than a half mile before it shut down.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

It's extremely rare since the recall to update firmware. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't doubt dnkoester is having a problem but it's quite unusual.

Recharging FFE While Being Towed & Applying Brakes

You're hitting the wrong button on your keyboard (or calculator). To get watt-seconds you take the watt-hours and divide by 60 and then divide by 60 again.

Driving electric on packed snow - review

My wife drove through 8" of snow today most of the way to work. She could feel it under the car. Since she was basically plowing snow the whole time, sometimes it came up over the bumper and just kind of flowed over the windshield, forcing her to slow to a crawl. It's better than any...

Nissan LEAF owner considering a FFE

I stand corrected. I was basing my observations on the Volts that I'm familiar with, both of which use about 370 Wh/mi in EV mode during the summer. Our FFE uses about 260 Wh/mi in similar conditions (Volt = 43% higher). The EPA 5-cycle estimate for the Volt is 360 Wh/mi (350 for 2013) while the...

    Got my new car....

@ashuri, I'm glad you're happy but I can't help but wonder if you aren't a little math challenged (maybe a lot). The Cayman is a sweet car for sure but have you had to pay for any of that Porsche maintenance yet? Over the life of your loan it will probably be more than you're saving on your new...

Driving electric on packed snow - review

The FFE is excellent in snow and ice with the right tires. I also pass SUVs when they're losing traction on a regular basis, although it's not as good as my son's Subaru All-Track. The traction control is WAY more responsive than the gas Focus, and much better than the Prius which just gives up...

Nissan LEAF owner considering a FFE

I forgot you're also looking at the Volt. You will find the Volt uses about 50% more energy per mile (as in higher electric bill) even if you never drive it on gas. There's a price to pay for lugging around all that extra weight. For those of us who are trying to stay within the limits of our...

Nissan LEAF owner considering a FFE

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned one of the main reasons we bought an FFE instead of a Leaf. FFE has a safer crash test rating. That and liquid thermal battery mgmt were the biggest reasons. We also liked the look of the FFE a lot better and my wife likes it that "you can't tell it's electric"...

$6,000 Cash Back on 2014 Focus Electric

Ford is most likely only offering the 6k incentive in CA so they can get ZEV credits. It's cheaper than buying credits from Tesla. It's the same reason Toyota stopped selling the e-Rav4 outside of Calif. A few other EVs are only available there.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

Your dealer probably didn't install the whole firmware update properly. I haven't heard of any SSN warnings on any cars that had the recall.

Car & Driver Ranks FFE #2 in EV Comparo

Those were my thoughts as well. I would rather own any one of the other EVs than the Spark. Did they test the iMiev?
