Ford is doing a buyback on my car, selling Lever 2 charger

Thanks v_traveller. We had a great experience with Dianne - My wife and I both actually enjoyed being at that dealership. If you check her thread on the Rav4EV forum, she updates very regularly and was fantastic about getting back to us quickly with all queries. They do all of the paperwork...

Ford is doing a buyback on my car, selling Lever 2 charger

Just completed our buyback last week - received the payoff today... ...loved my FFE, but it was like a relationship gone bad...lack of trust in the end - not a gamble I was willing to take. I was originally going to pick up a 2014 FFE, but the dealer was asking 50 more per month for the...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

Great find, Unplugged! I wonder if the EV engineers were reading our posts? :] Sadly, we are doing their job for them. Thread> "First 12Volt Battery Dies, Then SSN - a correlation?": http://www.myfocuselectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1269 Posted: Mon Aug 05, 2013 7:30 pm

Bosch 30 amp charger on 10 gauge wire?

I seem to remember from the manual that it is important to use copper *not* aluminum wiring as well.

    Solar homes and the FFE.

Hi David, what is the size of your system in kWh? Mine is about 7 kWh... at the peak of summer can do about 45 KWh a day. so far, haven't had an electrical bill in 3 years and have a bunch of net meter credits - I'm curious to see over time how this works out as I intentionally overbuilt my...

Hi All, Just wanted to open up a thread for those that are interested in learning more about home solar "grid tie" and "off grid" setups and how they relate to charging your car. who else here is driving their FFE on sunshine?

Anyone add an LED to a Level2 J1772 plug?

Thanks for the advice and suggestions.. I found a stick on micro LED at pep boys for 1.99! Works great.

    Charger cable lock

Easiest way I found to lock it was to put a loop of the cord through the front wheel spoke, then put a small bike lock through the loop and lock... short of cutting the cord (making it useless) no one will be able to take it this way. Once also tried to run the cord over so the wheel rested on...

Anyone add an LED to a Level2 J1772 plug?

recently had a level 2 charger "Bosch Powermax" installed and it takes a bit of fumbling in the dark to get it to seat properly into the FFE charge port. anyone hack an LED onto one of these things? I may have to get all geeky on the charge handle and figure out how to retrofit it with a...

Wrecked my car today - nobody injured

Wow! Glad everyone is OK. I'd be very surprised if an "inertial cutoff switch" wasn't part of the design of the FFE - most cars have them to switch off the 12v current to the fuel pump in an accident. In our car case the inertia switch would cut current 12v to the "main contactor" which...

12-volt battery died; Ford "working on a patch"

it's a shot in the dark, but "backfeeding" can happen to batteries on a solar backup system unless a backfeed cutoff is installed... in other words, once the solar charge is done and the sun goes down, the panels will drain the batteries unless there is a diode acting as a cut off circuit.

    Open letter

Hey Ashuri... I wasn't upset by the letter - I feel EXACTLY the same frustration. I think you should repost it *once* ;] right here for all to see. People need to know what is happening.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

After having SSN happen on 2 separate occasions, a total of 6 times, my wife is still extremely reluctant to set foot in it. I tried to reassure her by telling her that the dealer assured me they "found and corrected the problem"... and yes, as much as I love this car, I think I'm still...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

Magic words: Yes...tell them if anyone is injured during an SSN event, they will have a very big problem. and...you are concerned for your safety and the safety of others. I told my service manager to drive it until they got the SSN message...320 miles later, it happened to them. Ford...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

That's really not too reassuring... I have my FFE back as well and just pray while driving in the carpool lane at 75 that what the dealer told me about my "bent PCM pins" is true. I don't know about anyone else, but when on the freeway, I'm now all too aware of pull off zones...it's very...

12-volt battery died; Ford "working on a patch"

Don't electrics use a DC to DC converter (HighVoltage to 12V... in place of an alternator) if so, there's no real good reason for the 12V to be dead, unless the batteries were toast to begin with.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

really surprised your dealer didn't offer a rental... especially for the length of time you had to come out of pocket. This is something (including the gas) that you may want to contact your dealer on... I will be working through Ford, as my dealer recommended this is the best route for gas...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

a tip... when taking the FFE into the dealer - they will offer you a rental...make sure you have the *service manager sign* for at least $40/day or you will end up with a compact Toyota Yaris matchbox potentially for many weeks..Also, save all your gas receipts and submit to the dealer for...
