buying used - what to look for and dealership games

I'm in Southern California as well. My lease ended in June and I happen to know that my car was shipped immediately to Phoeniz, AZ, where it sat at an ADESDA auction lot for two months. Now, it's a rail yard somewhere in Texas. Guess my local dealer had no interest in the car; it was in mint...

For Sale: Set of 4 OE tires (Michelin Energy Saver) - $200

Car seems a little more sure footed than before, but ultimately traction is limited due to the rear weight bias of the car. It's still very easy to get wheelspin accelerating in the rain or when accelerating out of a turn. Haven't really noticed much difference in range, but I do mainly...

Tires are still available! Turns out @campfamily still has decent tread on his tires. - Michael

For Sale: Set of 4 OE tires (Michelin Energy Saver) - $200

I'm located in downtown. I'm in the South Bay area (Torrance) on weekends. I can deliver within a reasonable distance, if that's easier.

For Sale: Set of 4 OE tires (Michelin Energy Saver) - $200

Hi folks, When I got my Focus Electric, I upgraded to a set of 18" Titanium wheels/tires, so now I have for sale a set of four (4) OEM Michelin tires. They have less than 500 miles on them and are practically new. Model: Michelin Energy Saver A/S Size: 225/50-17 93V Fits: Focus Electric...

    Picked up a 2013 FFE

Cool! I'm thinking of an RS once my lease is up. I drive less than 400 miles per month now, so I really don't need my eFoFo. Were you able to get an RS without a dealer markup?

    LED's in Headlamps

Any downsides to just keeping on the low beams on all the time? Pretend to be Canadian or something.

Free Focus Electric lease after $4,000 CVRP

Leftover 2015s have extra incentives in CA. Find one while you can. Lease calculator for 2015 Focus Electric here; adjust your own inputs like selling price and mileage: http://leasehackr.com/blog/2016/3/27/californians-lease-a-ford-focus-electric-for-free

    ST Wheels.... Lowering springs?

I have gloss black Focus ST wheels on my Electric; they're wrapped in 235/40-18 Pirelli P6s, which is the stock size for the Focus ST (but smaller in diameter than the stock Focus Electric tires). Haven't really noticed a difference in range, as the Pirellis are LRR tires; I still average 250...

    Ordered on 2/19 a Leased 2015 FFE

Wonder if there's a way for you to buy/lease out of state. Are the lease programs based on where the car is leased, or where the car is registered? It seems like the deals are substantially better in California than they are in Florida.

Would you take a free Energi? I would

Cool story. There's really no reason to buy or lease a FFH over a Fusion Energi unless you needed the trunk space. Leases are significantly cheaper on Energi, some states have plug-in vehicles incentives ($1,500 in California), and the cost-of-ownership is lower, too. I think the only reason why...

Did you negotiate your price under MSRP ?

Purchase from a high-volume California dealer. I leased mine for $500 below invoice plus all applicable rebates. At the dealer, the internet sales manager asked if I was a Costco member, and when I said yes, he offered that price right off the bat.

    changing wheels and tires

I have the Pirelli P6 tires in 235/40-18. The car feels more sure-footed to me than compared to the stock Michelins; the old tires would squeal under moderate braking, whereas these seem to have more grip. It rides nicely and seems to have just a tad more road noise. Can't beat the price.

    New Lease deals...

I leased through Victor Ramirez at Santa Monica Ford. They offered $500 below invoice plus all applicable rebates, if I could show proof of Costco membership (I did). Interest rate was marked up to 1.25%, but upon my request, they lowered it to 0.25%, which was the FFE rate for June 2014...

    The FFE Sport Appearance Package!

Good work. I've just ordered some gloss black Focus ST wheels for my Ingot Silver car. Plan on blacking out the window molding and grill as well, though I'll be using vinyl instead of Plasti Dip for a glossy effect, which will hopefully match the wheels.

New FoFo Electric owner! -- questions

I did some more driving today, and I suppose calling the noise a "clunk" is an exaggeration. It's more of a one-time clicking sound that occurs after a change in accelerator pedal position. Still, my parents' Volt makes no such noise. Although both are powered by electric motors, it's...

New FoFo Electric owner! -- questions

Hi all, I took delivery of a 2014 Focus Electric two days ago. I came from a fairly basic 2012 Focus ICE (manual transmission SE Sport model) so I'm enjoying all the extra amenities. I have noticed an oddity, however, and wonder if it's just my vehicle or if this trait is common to all Focus...

    Steering wheel stiff

I've got a gas Focus and would describe the power steering in a similar way. I suspect it's the electric power steering (EPS) calibration, rather than an actual problem with the vehicle. The resistance just off-center gives a semblance of "on-center feel" but sometimes it makes positioning the...
