Hey look what error the Mach-E can throw? LOL

For the Mach-E Ford stepped up the EV Certification program and required that any dealer that wishes to sell the Mach-E has to be EV Certified (yeah I know, that didn't work out so well for the FFE! LOL). Here is a training video Ford sent to dealers back in January...

    Range Warning, Where is it?

One would think that seeing you have only 2 miles to go is enough warning?? You are correct: The FFE has no warning that you're about to run out. Considering that the max range of the FFE is about the time the "low fuel light" comes on in a gas car you would expect the low range warning to be...

Something to Consider Regarding Battery Degradation

Well that is part of it: Larger fins also means the battery is bigger and there isn't much room where the batteries are under the floor. Using coolant is an effective way to get the heat away from the batteries while still having a compact package. Besides it isn't like car companies haven't...

Something to Consider Regarding Battery Degradation

Except that the majority of the SSN errors were not caused by coolant leaks. They were software errors. Once Ford had a patch (or two or three LOL) most of the SSN's went away. Just about everyone else in the industry uses active cooling with coolant except the first generation Leaf. Especially...

"Yellow Wrench" light while driving in the rain... later red warning!

Did your car get the recall fixed for that? (It may not be a recall but I know there is an issue there.) There is a high-voltage wiring issue with the battery near the drivers side rear-wheel. Water can get in there and cause some corrosion in the connectors. For the fix I believe they clean...

Hey look what error the Mach-E can throw? LOL

Check it out a possible error from the Mach-E: I say possible error as this popped up in a video of the London reveal where the reviewer was sitting in the front talking while the center display ran through a whole bunch of various error codes (looked like a self test to me, I doubt someone...

    Blind Spot Monitor Function

The Mach-E is going to have Ford's Copilot 360 v2 which includes a ton of stuff, more than just simple blind-spot monitoring. https://www.ford.com/suvs/mach-e/2021/?gnav=header-all-vehicles Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert Lane-Keeping System...

    Mustang Mach-E

Well I have one reserved whatever that means in Ford speak LOL (Looking at the reservation FAQ: You give your $$ to Ford, they don't guarantee anything and you get your $$ back once you've placed an order with a dealer. So what does putting in a reservation get me other than loaning Ford $500?)

    Mustang Mach-E

Instantly improve “range” after purchasing a used FFE

Didn't really have to do all that. You'll quickly learn that the "range" as displayed is highly variable on the FFE. With about two charge cycles it would have reverted to whatever your driving habits are. There is a reason the range display is termed the "guess-o-meter". In fact you can even...

    Just bought 2012 Focus EV

Actually I've never driven my FFE down to zero miles. The closest I got was about 5 miles in the dead of winter (I think I only went about 50 miles then too). Note that I don't have my FFE anymore--haven't had it for 4 years now. Its really hard to measure battery degradation by using the...

    Just bought 2012 Focus EV

Actually the owner's manual doesn't really do a very good job of describing all the dash gauges. The range to empty value of the FFE (commonly called the "Guess-O-Meter") is a calculated average of your driving habits and electricity consumption heavily weighted to your most recent driving. As...

    Debating a 2017

Sync3 vs MFT and fast charge (CCS) that is about the only differences besides the larger battery.

2016 focus electric only shows 57 mile budget

In the winter my 2013 FFE would frequently read only 50 miles. It is very possible that it only shows 57 miles on a full charge. That Guess-O-Meter can be very unreliable at times.

AC Turns On during DC Charging

Yeah someone mentioned that the AC comes on when DC fast charging. The car is doing everything it can to keep the batteries cool at that time. I know when I've fast charged my Bolt and another Bolt that I've rented they both made a huge racket as just about every fan on the car comes on to keep...

Debating buying a 2013, what is the typical battery life?

To be fair, LOL, the first one was a 2012 and thus 8 years is 2020 so yeah none have gone past the 8-year warranty.....yet.

    More Aggressive Battery Regeneration

One of the EV's with paddles you're referring to is the Bolt. On the Bolt when you put the car into L you're in "One Pedal Mode" where taking your foot completely off the gas will start a max 0.2G deceleration. This will bring the car to a complete stop (you can adjust the amount of decel from...
