Convince me to lease- scared of "Stop Safely Now" issues

Have our 2012 FFE for 4500 miles, had the SSN message arise a few times and took it into the dealer. Has not happened since. It did not cause any real (non psychological) problem. Came on when starting, shut it off and restarted without message. Just didn't like seeing it. Our lmonthly payment...

Anyone else have problems with Value Charging?

I have a Siemens 240V charger and it has manual settings to delay charging 2-4-6 or 8 hours. So I just stopped using the car value charge settings and use this charger feature instead. The car is set to charge now so I get a message that it is not charging just after being plugged in but it...

    Technical Service Bulletin TSB 12-8-20

My wife had trouble starting our 2012 FFE a couple times. She would press the starter button and nothing would happen. I figured out a way around it, I would remote start with the key or via the internet. We took it into the dealer and they applied the TSB 12-8-20 reprogramed the BECM, PCM and...

Nissan Leaf vs Ford Focus Electric

I did not drive the Leaf as my wife just doesn't like the way it looks. A friend has looked into both and he is leaning toward the Leaf becasue it is boxy and carries a lot of stuff and he wants to advertise 'electric car'. The FFE is just like a 'normal' car in how it looks and how it drives...

Has anyone successfully gotten a lease?

10,500 a year for 3 years. I thought it might not be enough but we are having trouble putting more than 500-600 miles a month although that is a lot of local trips. I guess I never noticed how many miles our long vacation trips put on our cars.

Would You Ever Build Your Own Electric Car?

AFAIK the most common conversion is/was a VW Rabbit kit. It uses lead acid batteries and you lose the back seat for people, still rom for parcels. Enough have been done that the bugs have been sorted out. As I remember a couple years ago it cost about $6K for the conversion + the car, not...

Has anyone successfully gotten a lease?

Bought ours (my wife says its her's) at Bob Wondries Ford in Alhambra. I did not see any advertised this weekend but have for a few weeks. You could call and see if they have any 2012s before even asking about price. I don't have the other company ad from a month ago or since but you could...

Where is OBD-II connector (if any)

This is a grat question. I do not currently have an OBD reader, mine went with the old Jeep I sold, but they are easy to borrow. Only need them if a light comes on but it would be interesting to see what data is gatehered on an OBD or scan tool. Anyone find a way to acces the 'internal' information?

Has anyone successfully gotten a lease?

I think the trick is to find a 2012. One dealer only had 2013s and would not deal period. But two dealers that had 2012s had some pretty good deals. Zero down, $259 a month for 36 months (+tax & govt fees), that is what I got. I saw a few at this price and two weeks after I bought mine I saw a...

Best way to get outside air without affecting range

Hope someone has a more definitive answer to your question. Have our FFE about a month now and can't figure it out either. Sometimes I just turn off the fan completely, that saves energy and often works but sometimes I would just like a natural flow of outside air. I suspect that openning a...

Down hill gental bake or coast? for recharge

Thanks for the response, I had the same question. So I will keep light pressure on the brake on long downhills (I also live in LA area) and skip trying to figure out if low has any usefullness. Just one thing, I thought if the brake is pressed lightly the brake pads don't engage and I didn't...

    Long Term Airport Parking?

Just wondering whether the charge runs down when parked for a week or so. I need to go to the local airport which is about 20 miles from my house. The car would sit, not charging, for a week. Don't know if the Focus has internal electrical drains which would draw down the battery if it sits for...
