Can installing aftermarket DRL's drain your 12v battery?

Sorry this is my second time posting this but I didn't get a answer from my last one. Instead of messing with the LED on the car now I was hoping to be able to install DRL's myself. Looking to get some feedback on this would be great.

I think there is a very detailed thread from Jchady about how to wire the LEDs as DRL. He had the advantage of a Ford mechanic helping him.

I wouldn't mess with a headlight housing that costs $1400 each to replace.

Yeah I feel ya on that. I found some Phillip ones on ebay that could be installed into the front open area. It shows connections to the battery but I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about it draining. Btw there is a TV show called Extint staring Hallie Berry and last night they had someone driving a white Model X... Thought that was really cool. Can't wait to test drive one!!
