Recall 16B02 Battery wire shield

Recall 16B02 is a wire harness shield that is suppose to prevent water intrusion into the battery connectors. In the photo below shows the lower battery that located below the rear seat. This is the location a gas tank would be on ICE Focus. The splash guard is for the orange electrical connector on the battery case.


In the two photos below you can see the black plastic splash guard installed.





Estimated time of the service was 2 to 2.5 hours.

This recall is only for certain regions correct?
Not for the southwest USA apparently since I haven't received any letter from Ford in mail regarding this one for my 2014 FFE.

thanks for the pictures. Seems like a dumb place to put electrical connectors. I find it more concerning that the seals on the connectors aren't good enough to keep the water out.

The connectors weren't the problem so much as the metal plate they are affixed to. This would deform under corrosion and cause the plastic connectors to crack.
