Don't know if anyone else has discussed this. Did a search and did not see any result.

To get into Engineering Test Mode:

1. Enter vehicle with key.
2. Hold down "OK" button on left hand spoke of steering wheel.
3. Press and release the "Start" button.
4. Continue to hold the OK button for 5 seconds, or until you see a yellow "ET" in the upper left corner of the left instrument cluster display.
5. Use the OK button to clear the messages.
6. Use the up and down arrow buttons on the left hand spoke to move through the different items.
7. Exit Engineering Test Mode by pressing the Start button a second time.

I haven't explored this mode in depth, and it seems to be a subset of the information in the above link.
Probably the most useful feature is the ability to display DTC codes.

Wow! Good find. I agree that it doesn't look useful except maybe if I get the wrench or dreaded SSN and am not at home to hookup my laptop and use forscan to read the DTCs.
