Found an interesting article about the MyFord app and the Ford Focus Electric, it's titled
"MyFord Mobile app makes wireless keyfobs look like antiques"

The Ford Focus Electric debuted at the CES last year and is planned to be in dealerships early this year. Since it's been a long time since the unveiling, Ford has had lots of time to develop an important component, the MyFord app.

Since the Ford Focus Electric lives and dies by the level of charge it has, battery life plays a major role in the MyFord app. An Electric blue meter greets you and shows your Ford Focus Electric's battery capacity in percentage and in mileage. The mileage estimates are apparently even individually tailored to different drivers, calculated based on the driver's watts per mile. Ford hopes this will help prevent heavy footed drivers from getting stranded and providing bad press.

I see a new theme developing where EV manufacturers are very concerned/aware of the press they may or may not get from their new technology. The Ford Focus Electric doesn't want to end up like the Chevy Volt having people afraid to buy because of some recall or other issue.

The Ford Focus Electric will glide silently into showrooms in the second half of 2012, with MyFord Mobile to appear in app stores at the same time.
