Last week Ford announced that the Ford Focus Electric sedan will be available in North America next year - or did they really? They announced that a year or more ago, so why are people just now posting on their blogs saying Ford announced it last week?
The Ford Focus Electric will be available to California, New York and New Jersey in limited quantities, and then as production increases the Ford Focus Electric will be available in 15 other launch markets. Now that Ford's ordering system is ready, customers can pre-order their 2012 Ford Focus Electric and select what extras and what colors they'd like.
Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, and Washington D.C. are among some of the first markets chosen for the 2012 Ford Focus Electric launch because of their commuting patterns, existing hybrid purchasing trends, and local government commitment to electrical vehicles and charging infrastructure.
The Ford Focus Electric is Ford's first all-electric passenger vehicle, and is the first all-electric vehicle to be mass produced by one of the big 3 auto companies in the US, unless of course you count the EV-1 from back in the day, but we all know everyone tries to forget about that.
