Now we know May 7 is the end of the line for FFE and Focus in North America

Chinese production of the Focus for North America isn't supposed to start until late 2019. I assume this will be a 2020 model and there will be no 2019 model year. I haven't seen any mention of what will happen to the FFE. European production ended in 2017 and now North American production ending May 7, 2018, we may not see a FFE until the Mark IV focus platform late next year as a 2020 model if at all.

The Chinese government is heavily pushing electric vehicles. The Focus Electric might be much more prevalent in the Focus line with production in China. We might see the reincarnation of the Focus Electric coming out of China sooner rather than later.

Another thought is that we might still get Battery Electric Vehicles out of the Michigan plant. Ford has announced that 16 BEVs are going to be in production by 2022, to achieve this goal the Bronco or the Ranger or both will have to get a BEV variant. Although I love my FFE I would prefer a Bronco BEV with AWD and real towing capacity.

Note that it is 40 electrified vehicles and 16 BEV's by 2022 but those numbers are worldwide. I would suspect that we'll see a Bronco or a Ranger hybrid (or PHEV) before we'll see a BEV variant. I'm guessing that most of the BEV's will be cars and SUV's (we'll see Escape and EcoSport BEVs before Bronco or Ranger unfortunately). I'm also guessing that they count the same vehicle in different markets per market in that 16 count (e.g. European and North American FFE counts as 2, not 1). For reference: Ford plans $11 billion investment, 40 electrified vehicles.

I'm with you, however, I'd be first in line for a Ranger BEV (I had a 93 and a 98 Ranger..loved those trucks).

That would be awesome and get me to buy another Ford. At least the AWD Bronco part... Unfortunately I don't think Ford will even have an ICE Bronco before I end up replacing my wife's '99 4runner. So it looks like an ICE Subaru Forester is in my near future. Hopefully my last ICE vehicle purchase.
