Ford recently released it's annual sustainability report, and in it mentioned that Ford is taking an aggressive stance when it comes to water conservation and managing how it uses fresh water.

John Viera, Ford’s global director for sustainability and vehicle environment matters, says “We have really elevated water as a significant issue.”

Over the last decade, Ford has descreased water usage by 49 percent per vehicle produced. Over the next year, Ford plans to decrease the current usage by 5 percent per vehicle.

* Minimizing global water consumption at Ford facilities while maximizing reuse
* Finding ways to use alternative, lower-quality water sources
* Prioritizing our investments based on local water scarcity and cost concerns
* Meeting either local quality standards or Ford global standards for wastewater discharge – whichever is more stringent
* Ensuring a stable water supply for our manufacturing facilities while working with local communities to minimize our impact
