Ford "Talking" Vehicles

Wed May 25, 2011 7:02 pm

Ford launched the Transit Connect Electric small commercial van in 2010, and in addition to the Ford Focus Electric in late 2011, will introduce C-MAX Hybrid, a second next-generation lithium-ion battery hybrid and the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid in 2012.

Along with new vehicles, Ford is also researching new technology to put in those electric vehicles. Some of those new technologies include using Wi-Fi and GPS to wirelessly talk to other vehicles to help reduce crashes as drivers spend more and more time in their vehicles.

On average a Los Angeles commuter wastes $1400 of fuel a year in traffic congestion. Ford's new 2012 Electric Focus and 4 other vehicloes that get over 40 MPG help to combat the rising fuel costs facing consumers.
