Portland's economy and environment driven by electric vehicl

Fri May 13, 2011 2:18 pm

Portland is one of the leading regions in the country when it comes to electric vehicle readiness and EV awareness.

Oregon has received stimulus funds to install fast charging stations in public areas. They've also received money to install residential and commercial charging stations.

As we all know, Ford chose Portland as one of the 25 most electric vehicle ready cities in the country. Here's some of the reasons why Ford thinks Portland would be a great city to drive the all new 2012 Ford Focus Electric in:

- Oregon's Minor Label program allows for batch permitting of charge stations for electric vehicles, making the process easier and cheaper for contractors
- Portland offers a simple website for residents who wish to install a charging station in their home. Residents can currently register online and obtain the permit instantly.

Ford Focus Electric owners will be able to recharge the vehicle's advanced lithium-ion battery pack at home on a daily basis. They will also be able to monitor their energy usage using the Microsoft Hohm energy management application for Ford's electric
