Ford Motor Co. and DTE Energy have paired up to add power to the Ford production line at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne. Ford has added solar panels that can generate about 500 kilowatts of energy to be used in the assembly plant.

The Wayne plant currently makes the Ford Focus and will add the Ford Focus Electric when Ford begins production of the Electric Vehicle. The C-max and C-max Energi are also slated for production at the plant.

Ford is considering this solar installation a pilot project, and if it works out well Ford might later outfit other plants with a similar system.

It's great green exposure for Ford shortly after their announcement of their green Ford Focus Electric vehicle.
