and what will it mean for the FFE?

Here is my small wishlist for the next gen FFE:
  • - More efficient heater--the one on it is just terrible
    - Better integration with MyFordMobile--like could all the features just work! No need to add extra bells & whistles; just make the current ones work properly!
    - A moderate increase in range (you know something like 120 miles..nothing too pie in the sky)
    - Support for quick charging (I'm sure this will be in there in the form of J1772 CCS)

Just one more...together with the bigger battery, the ability to program a charging limit below 100% in order to preserve the battery

I would not be surprised if Ford gets rid of the FFE, or of they decide to continue building it only on the current chassis. I hope I'm wrong. If they do move forward with a BEV, hopefully they'll do it without any passenger or cargo space intrusion.

If Ford does do a total redesign of the FFE by moving the batteries under the floor. But this would make it a totally a different car. Take for example of the Honda Fit EV. None of the body panels can be swapped between the two vehicles. You maybe would be able to swap the doors and hood and that’s about it. This is because the EV version is taller than the ICE version.

I'm curious to see the Golf EV in person. Somehow VW has managed to electrify that one without using any passenger or cargo space. After the experience of owning a B5 generation Passat, though, I doubt I'd buy another VW product again.

Another report on the next version of the Focus. Can you say "Focus Energi"?? (but yes the FFE will still be produced...at least that is what the article says. We will know more in March):
My post about it:

I would LOVE an FFE in that color! (I had a 1998 Ranger in that color and it was one sharp truck.)

Note that the only source the article has is the pictures and thus everything else is pure speculation and from an "inside source" so take it with a grain of salt!

I am really excited for them to make a better heater. I freeze in mine and it really upsets me :(. Also have been hoping that they put in a better battery to last a little longer. Sometimes I have problems getting it to start. I saw one of these at my cousins and it stole the show.

Here is an image that may be a little closer to the 2015 model. Notice the new cleaner center stack.

That looks a lot like the current Euro FFE (WattsUp posted a YouTube link to a review which can be found in this post:
http://www.myfocuselectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1776&p=9217#p9217 ). I'd bet that the US wouldn't get that version: it looks like the Euro version of Sync (gen I sync) not MFT (gen II). I haven't heard any suggestions that Ford is moving away from MFT (other than that they are working on a gen III sync).

Well ok they are close but definitely different: (screen grab from the video)

Since the cold weather set in in Chicago, (and I mean cold weather!) weeks and weeks ago, the ride has gotten much stiffer. It feels like the shocks are twice as stiff as they were in the summer (a lot of jostling going on, plus, the additional ruts & bumps in the streets). The ride just isn't comfortable, like it used to be.

But, then, on the couple of days it got up to the high 30's, it started driving smoother, as I remember it did in the past.

Today, the high was 12, low tonight is -7  .
