Hi-tech electric cars of the future are slowly but surely hitting markets across the country. The highlight of auto shows around the country, in Detroit, Las Vegas, and other cities, has been electric vehicles - including the Ford Focus Electric vehicle.

But is this any representation of the public's view? There is a cost to going green, with the EVs costing over $30K. Yes there's a $7500 tax credit available, for now... but will it still be available, will there be any funds left in it, by the time the Ford Focus Electric hits the market?

But for people in Miami willing to spend the money for an all electric vehicle, or a plug-in hybrid like the Chevy Volt, will have to wait. Florida will be one of the last states to get them - we're hoping for later this year, but that's at the earliest. There is no electrical infrastructure, and no public recharge stations. Florida simply hasn't gotten ready for electric cars yet. Perhaps it has something to do with the very large number of apartments and condos - which means no-garage outdoor parking. And with the economy the way it is, condo associations will be reluctant to spend big money on public chargers for their complex.

Florida Power and Light is starting to market electric vehicle charging systems to be used in South Florida.

Are there any users on this Ford Focus Electric Forum that are from Miami, or anywhere in Florida?
