I have found preconditioning on 120V is not as effective as on 240V. And this makes sense. The car can only draw 1.4kW on 120V due to the 12A limit on the convenience cord. Versus the full 7.2kW available to be drawn from my Level II EVSE, the 5+kW heater can be put to full use. Does anyone know if the battery is depleted by preconditioning on 120V?

Don,

I think so.

I tried setting a start time once, but found the battery was slightly depleted when I disconnected from the charger. I disabled it after that because I live in SoCal where it's not really necessary if the car is garaged. However, I now think it may have been before I installed my Level 2 charger. Your email reminded me of that.

Preconditioning depletes the battery in my case, when on the 120v charger. Consistently takes 5% (1kW?) in an attempt to get the interior from 31-38 degrees F to 65 degrees F. I don't think it ever achieves 65 degrees, but it does help.
